To report a specific ChatGPT response, select the thumbs-down icon beneath it, choose Select an issue, then select Safety or Legal concern and follow the prompts. For content that the in-product route does not cover, use OpenAI’s content reporting form; for bugs or account problems, contact Support through the Help Center.
Report a response from the conversation
- Open the conversation and find the response you want to report.
- Click or tap the thumbs-down icon beneath that response.
- Choose Select an issue.
- Choose Safety or Legal concern, then follow the prompts and provide the requested details.
OpenAI documents this route for ChatGPT on the web at chatgpt.com and in the iOS and Android apps. Labels or controls may vary across interface versions, accounts, or regions; if you cannot find the option, use the content reporting form linked from OpenAI’s reporting guidance.

Choose the right reporting route

What to include in a Support request
For a malfunction or a repeated block on an allowed task, contact Support through the Help Center chat. OpenAI recommends a concise description and reproduction steps, plus the date and time with time zone, relevant request or completion IDs when applicable, and your browser, operating system, and device details. If a safety or policy flag appeared, include its exact message. Do not include personal or sensitive data. See OpenAI’s Support contact instructions.
What happens after a report
OpenAI says it reviews human reports of problematic ChatGPT content using automated systems and a trained team of experts. It also says its Model Quality team may review reported domains and other content and apply filters or other mitigations to reduce reliance on unreliable sources in future responses. These are general review practices, not a promise of an individual reply, a specific outcome, or a response time. OpenAI describes its approach in How ChatGPT and our foundation models are developed.
