Arrow Electronics distributes components and enterprise technology, but its role extends beyond moving products from suppliers to business customers. It also helps companies design, source, integrate and deliver technology, while giving resellers and managed service providers tools to sell and manage cloud services. Arrow is primarily a business-to-business distributor and channel enabler—not the manufacturer of every product it carries.
What does Arrow Electronics do?
Arrow connects technology manufacturers with organizations that build products and provide IT services. Its business combines electronics distribution with technical and supply-chain services, spanning semiconductor and electronic-component sourcing, enterprise computing, logistics, engineering support and cloud-channel tools.
Arrow described its strategy in its 2024 Form 10-K as becoming a “premier, technology-centric, go-to-market and supply chain services company.” That framing captures the shift: distribution remains central, but the company also supports customers at stages before and after a purchase.
Two operating segments serve different business customers
| Segment | Primary customers | What it focuses on |
|---|---|---|
| Global Components | Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers | Semiconductors, IP&E (interconnect, passive and electromechanical components), computing and memory, and related engineering and supply-chain services |
| Global ECS | Value-added resellers (VARs) and managed service providers (MSPs) | Enterprise computing solutions and channel support, including cloud distribution and management tools |
The distinction is useful: Global Components primarily supports businesses that design or manufacture products, while Global ECS supports partners that sell or manage technology for organizations.

How large is Arrow, and what does it sell?
Arrow reported $30.853 billion in consolidated sales for 2025, of which $21.501 billion came from Global Components. Semiconductors and related services accounted for approximately 50% of consolidated sales that year.
Within Global Components’ 2025 sales, Arrow reported this product mix:

- Semiconductors: approximately 72%.
- IP&E: approximately 16%.
- Computing and memory: approximately 7%.
- Other products and services: approximately 5%.
These figures describe Arrow’s business mix, not a list of products it manufactures. Arrow primarily distributes products made by other companies, alongside services that help customers select, develop, source and deploy them.
What services make Arrow more than a catalog distributor?
Arrow’s value-added work follows a product through multiple stages, rather than stopping at the sale of a component or system. Its 2025 filing describes an offering that starts with prototyping and design engineering, continues through production readiness and manufacturing support, and includes logistics and customer service.

Arrow also points to the reach of its physical network. In 2024, it reported more than 140 sales facilities and 36 distribution and value-added centers serving more than 85 countries. Those figures indicate the scale of its commercial and logistics presence; they do not mean that every service or product is available in every market.
What is ArrowSphere, and who uses it?
ArrowSphere is Arrow’s cloud-distribution and management platform for channel partners, particularly VARs and MSPs. It extends the company’s distribution model into cloud services: partners can use marketplace and management capabilities, along with business-intelligence tools, to support their cloud businesses.

Arrow describes ArrowSphere as an AI-enabled digital go-to-market platform. In practical terms, it is intended for businesses selling or managing technology services—not for consumers looking to buy a personal cloud subscription directly from Arrow.
How did Arrow evolve from a distributor into a technology enabler?
Arrow’s history shows an early expansion of supplier relationships and geographic reach, followed by a broader present-day mix of engineering, supply-chain and digital channel services.

1970s: Building a broadline distribution business
Arrow’s official history says the company won key semiconductor franchises, beginning with Texas Instruments in 1970, and opened sales offices in more than 20 U.S. cities. It reports average annual electronics-distribution sales growth of 34% during the decade. Sales reached $177 million by the end of the 1970s, when Arrow became the country’s second-largest electronics distributor.
Today: Supporting more of the technology lifecycle
Arrow’s current model adds design engineering, prototyping, production support, integration, logistics and customer service to distribution. ArrowSphere carries that approach into cloud distribution and channel management, while the company’s 2025 year-in-review highlights an expansion of managed services in AI, cloud and cybersecurity.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Arrow sell products directly to consumers?
Arrow’s described business is primarily business-to-business: its two operating segments serve manufacturers, EMS providers, VARs and MSPs. The company’s materials emphasize distribution, integration and channel enablement for those organizations, rather than a consumer retail offering. A consumer should not assume that Arrow operates like a general-purpose electronics store or that a particular product is sold directly to individuals.
How should you compare Arrow with another distributor?
Product catalog size alone will not show the full difference between broadline distributors. A useful comparison should examine the capabilities relevant to the buyer’s needs:
PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute- Engineering depth: Is design, prototyping or production-readiness support available?
- Lifecycle coverage: Does support extend from early design through manufacturing and customer service?
- Logistics footprint: Can the distributor support the required markets and fulfillment needs?
- Enterprise IT and cloud: Does it provide capabilities beyond physical components, such as cloud distribution and management?
- Channel enablement: Are there tools, training and resources for VARs and MSPs?
- Supplier and customer reach: Does its network align with the manufacturers, production partners and markets involved?
Arrow’s stated capabilities span all six areas, but the right fit depends on the specific product, service and geography. Its sales, product mix and network figures are time-sensitive; the figures above are attributed to the years Arrow reported them.
