Yes. Snapchat says received Snaps are one of the inputs used to determine your Snapscore. The company does not disclose a points-per-Snap rule or say whether the score changes when a Snap is delivered, when you open it, or at another point.

Why receiving Snaps can affect your score

Snapchat Support says Snapscore combines the number of Snaps you send and receive, the Stories you post, and “a couple other factors.” That confirms receiving Snaps contributes to the calculation, but it does not reveal how much weight each activity carries.

Snapchat describes the calculation as a “super-secret, special equation.” The company’s Snapscore support page does not give a fixed number of points for receiving a Snap or publish the complete formula. Treat specific point-per-Snap claims elsewhere as unconfirmed unless Snapchat provides them.

Does the score change when a Snap arrives or when you open it?

Snapchat’s explanation does not specify when a received Snap is counted. It therefore does not confirm that the score rises at delivery, only after you open the Snap, or after a particular processing delay. The supported answer is that received Snaps are part of the score calculation; the precise timing is not stated.

How to check your Snapscore

  1. Open Snapchat and tap your Bitmoji or profile icon to open your Profile screen.
  2. Look under your name. Snapchat says your score appears there.

Can you lower or reset your Snapscore?

Snapchat Support says there is no way to lower or reset a Snapscore. Its help page does not provide a setting or procedure for changing the score.
