If Home, Shorts, Subscriptions, or Library vanished from the bottom of the YouTube Android app, YouTube confirmed an in-app navigation issue and said its teams were investigating. The notice initially described Android users in the United States, including Premium subscribers; reports from other regions suggest the problem may have reached beyond that stated scope.
Which navigation bar disappeared?
The reported problem affected YouTube’s own bottom menu inside the Android app, not automatically Android’s system navigation bar. YouTube’s in-app controls include destinations such as Home, Shorts, Subscriptions, and Library. Android’s system bars are a separate layer of interface that Android displays around apps, as described in its system bars documentation.
If Android’s system navigation controls (such as the gesture area or navigation buttons) are missing, that is a different symptom from YouTube’s bottom menu losing its destinations.
What YouTube confirmed
In a notice reported on June 3, 2025, YouTube said some Android users were experiencing problems with the app’s navigation bar and that its teams were actively investigating. The notice identified users in the United States, including Premium subscribers. YouTube’s Community notice did not give a cause or a repair date.

Android Authority also reported accounts of the same missing controls in Europe, India, and elsewhere. Those reports indicate that users outside the stated U.S. scope encountered the symptom, but they do not establish how widespread it was or which countries, app versions, Android versions, devices, or accounts were affected. No published count or prevalence percentage was provided. Android Authority’s report covers the confirmation and the reports from users.
Why the app may be missing buttons when the browser works
The June 2, 2025 YouTube Community report described one account where the Home, Shorts, Subscriptions, and Library bar was missing in the mobile app while YouTube worked in a browser. That distinction is consistent with an app-specific symptom, but one user’s experience does not prove that every case has the same cause or that browser access will work for every affected person. The account’s Community post is a user report, not a controlled test.

What to try—and what is not a guaranteed fix
YouTube’s reported notice did not provide a guaranteed workaround. In the Community report, one affected user said restarting the app, clearing cache and data, switching accounts, reinstalling YouTube, and updating to the latest app version did not restore the bar. That is not a universal test, but it is a reason not to assume any one of those steps will fix this particular issue.
- Check which interface is affected: If only YouTube’s Home, Shorts, Subscriptions, or Library destinations are missing, the symptom matches the reported in-app issue. If Android’s system navigation controls are missing across apps, that is a separate system-UI problem.
- Use ordinary app checks cautiously: Restarting or updating the app may be reasonable routine troubleshooting, but the available reports do not establish these as fixes for the confirmed incident.
- Try a browser only as an alternative route: One account reported that browser access worked when the app’s bar did not. It may help you reach YouTube, but it does not repair the app.
Is the YouTube navigation-bar bug fixed?
The cited June 2025 reports establish that YouTube acknowledged the problem and was investigating at that time. They do not establish a final root cause, a universal workaround, or a permanent repair for every affected user. The evidence also does not show that buying Premium resolves it; Premium subscribers were included in the stated affected group.
