Huawei’s guidance says Mate 30 series and later phones do not come with GMS or Google apps preinstalled, and its Mate 90 Pro Max product page lists HarmonyOS 7.0. Huawei suggests using Google apps in a web browser, but that is not the same as having the Play Store and Google’s Android services built into the phone.
What Google support should you expect?
Huawei’s policy is the clearest guide: it says Mate 30 series and later models do not have GMS or Google apps preinstalled because of Google authorization. Huawei’s China product page identifies the Mate 90 Pro Max as running HarmonyOS 7.0. On that evidence, buyers should not expect native Google apps or officially licensed GMS on this model. Huawei’s support guidance and its Mate 90 Pro Max product page describe the relevant policy and device.
Google Mobile Services is a licensed package separate from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP); it does not come automatically with AOSP. Google says the Play Store, Play Protect, and core Google apps are available only on Play Protect-certified devices. A phone running an Android-based operating system is therefore not, by itself, evidence that it has Google’s license or certification. Google’s GMS overview explains the licensing distinction, and Google’s Play Protect certification guidance describes certification.
Can you use Google apps on the phone?
Google websites in a browser
Huawei suggests trying the web versions of Google apps. You may be able to access some Google services through a browser, but Huawei does not promise that every feature works on the Mate 90 Pro Max or that browser access matches the native app experience. In particular, the guidance does not establish equivalent notifications, background activity, sign-in integrations, payments, or location behavior.

Play Store and apps that require Google services
Do not assume the Google Play Store or Play Protect is available as a supported native service. Google ties core Google-app availability to certification, while Huawei’s policy says later Mate models do not come with GMS preinstalled. This also matters for third-party apps: an app that depends on Google Play services may not behave normally without GMS.
Does Huawei Mobile Services replace Google Mobile Services?
No. Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and HMS Core provide Huawei’s own framework and services, including Huawei account services and products such as AppGallery, Cloud, and Health. They are not a universal substitute for GMS. Huawei warns that some Android apps requiring GMS Core may not work with HMS Core. Huawei’s HMS Core guidance explains this limitation.

What about sideloading or third-party workarounds?
The official sources cited here do not establish whether particular third-party containers, sideloading methods, or individual banking, wallet, navigation, messaging, and streaming apps work on this model. Nor do they show that an unofficial installation would provide the same support or reliability as Google services on a Play Protect-certified device. Treat claims about specific workarounds or apps as unverified unless they are confirmed for the exact Mate 90 Pro Max version and market you plan to use.
