Altran’s embedded-software and IoT capabilities did not become a separately reported business after a merger. Altran strengthened those capabilities through acquisitions, including GlobalEdge Software in 2017, then Capgemini acquired Altran in 2020. Altran ceased to be an independent listed company, and its performance was integrated into Capgemini reporting.

What does “Altran merges embedded operations” mean?

The phrase combines two developments: Altran’s expansion of embedded engineering through acquisitions and Capgemini’s later acquisition of Altran. The available company announcements do not describe a standalone merger of an “embedded operations” business, nor do they publish a separate revenue figure for those operations.

How Altran expanded its embedded engineering

GlobalEdge added embedded software and IoT expertise

In September 2017, Altran completed its acquisition of GlobalEdge Software, an India-based product-engineering company specializing in embedded software and IoT solutions. Altran said the acquisition added embedded and connectivity capabilities, India-based delivery capacity, and commercial strength in North America. Altran’s GlobalEdge announcement

Aricent expanded the engineering-center network

Altran finalized its acquisition of Aricent on March 20, 2018. Altran’s 2019 registration document said Aricent’s Indian teams were integrated into Altran Global Engineering Centers, forming a network of more than 17,500 engineers across five centers. This figure describes the engineering-center network, not an embedded-only workforce. Altran’s Aricent integration information

When did Capgemini acquire Altran?

Capgemini and Altran announced exclusive negotiations for a friendly cash tender offer on June 24, 2019. The initial offer was €14 per share, representing €3.6 billion in consideration, excluding approximately €1.4 billion in net financial debt. On January 14, 2020, Capgemini raised the offer to €14.50 per share. Capgemini completed the squeeze-out on April 15, 2020, and owned 100% of Altran. Capgemini’s acquisition timeline

What happened to Altran after the acquisition?

Altran ceased to be independent and was delisted after the transaction. Its performance was integrated into Capgemini’s reporting. At the time, Altran reported €3.2 billion in 2019 revenue and more than 50,000 employees in over 30 countries; those figures cover Altran as a whole, not its embedded operations alone. Altran chairman and CEO Dominique Cerutti described the transaction as “a turning point in the history of Altran, creating the world leader in the ‘Intelligent Industry’ to champion the digital transformation of companies.”

Is Altran’s embedded business still separately reported?

No separate embedded-operations revenue or headcount is established in the cited company information. GlobalEdge’s acquisition documents embedded software and IoT as capabilities Altran gained, but do not establish an independent reporting unit that continued under that name after Capgemini took over.
