The DJI Flip is a sub-249 g foldable camera drone with full-coverage propeller guards, a 1/1.3-inch camera sensor and 4K video recording up to 60 fps with HDR. Its palm-launch options and automated camera modes make it approachable for beginners, but the guards do not make it collision-proof or remove the need to fly carefully.
What is the DJI Flip?
DJI announced the Flip on January 14, 2025, positioning it as a compact drone for aerial photography and vlogging. It combines a foldable design with guards that wrap around the propellers, a three-axis mechanical gimbal and a camera built around a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor.
The defining design choice is the combination of portability and physical propeller protection. DJI lists the aircraft at under 249 g and includes 2 GB of internal storage. Those specifications do not, by themselves, determine how local rules apply to a particular flight; check the requirements for your location.
What can the camera record?
The camera takes photos up to 48 MP and records HDR video at up to 4K/60 fps. DJI also documents an optional 10-bit D-Log M color profile for users who want more flexibility when grading footage. The three-axis mechanical gimbal helps stabilize the camera, but it is not a guarantee that every clip will be free of motion blur or shake.

These are the documented mode options, not a promise that every combination of resolution, frame rate, HDR and color profile is available at once. Check the camera settings and manual for the specific mode you plan to use.
Is the DJI Flip good for beginners?
It can be a reasonable choice for a new pilot who wants a protected-prop design and guided shooting modes. Palm takeoff can simplify getting started, while FocusTrack, QuickShots, MasterShots and Hyperlapse automate or assist with certain camera moves. Automation helps frame and capture a shot; it does not take responsibility for choosing a safe location, monitoring the aircraft or avoiding hazards.

Use palm takeoff carefully
- Choose a windless environment when possible.
- Keep fingers clear of the propellers and avoid blocking the camera.
- Never try to catch or grab the drone while it is flying.
Know what the guards do—and do not do
The foldable, full-coverage guard wraps around the propellers and reduces the risk of direct contact with exposed blades. It is a physical barrier, not a substitute for obstacle awareness, cautious handling or safe flying. Do not treat it as proof that indoor flights or close approaches are risk-free.
How long can it fly, and how far can it transmit?
DJI rates maximum flight time at 31 minutes. That is a manufacturer rating, not a guaranteed duration for every flight; conditions and how the aircraft is operated affect real-world time aloft. Plan to land with reserve rather than relying on the maximum figure.

DJI lists transmission up to 13 km under FCC conditions. That figure is region-dependent and should not be read as a universal operating distance or a promise of uninterrupted connection. Local requirements and the conditions between the aircraft and controller affect what is possible in practice.
What controls and shooting features does it offer?
The Flip supports palm takeoff and DJI’s automated shooting features: FocusTrack, QuickShots, MasterShots and Hyperlapse. It also supports vertical shooting and vertical crops, which can reduce the amount of reframing needed for portrait-format content. These features suit quick, repeatable creator workflows, while manual piloting and camera choices remain important for a deliberate shot.

What comes with the DJI Flip Fly More Combo?
Package contents can differ by listing and market, and the available product information here does not establish a single universal Fly More Combo inventory. Check the exact retailer or DJI listing for the included items before buying; do not assume that a separately available accessory is automatically in the box.
Model-relevant accessories include spare batteries, a charging hub, replacement propellers and ND filters. They address different needs: extra batteries for more flying between charging breaks, a hub for battery charging, replacement propellers for servicing, and ND filters for managing light when recording video. Follow the manual’s A/B propeller matching and screwdriver replacement procedure rather than improvising parts.

Should you buy the DJI Flip?
Consider it if your priorities are a compact drone, a 4K/60 HDR-capable camera, portrait-format shooting and full-coverage propeller guards. Its beginner-friendly controls and automated shooting modes can lower the effort of capturing planned shots, but they do not make flying risk-free. Compare the exact package contents and regional terms before choosing a listing, and treat flight-time and transmission figures as ratings rather than guaranteed results.
