Arch Linux’s October 2026 installation ISO, version 2026.10.01, is available. Arch lists Linux kernel 7.2.7 for the x86_64 image. Arch’s Core repository separately lists systemd 262-1 for x86_64, but the ISO release page does not provide a complete package manifest confirming the exact systemd build inside the image.
What is included in the Arch Linux October 2026 ISO?
Arch Linux Release Engineering lists the October 1, 2026 image as version 2026.10.01. Its release record gives the following details for the x86_64 download:

Does the ISO include systemd 262?
Arch’s Core repository lists systemd 262-1 for x86_64, with package build and signature dates of September 22, 2026. Arch also says its monthly installation images typically contain current kernel and base packages from its repositories.

That makes systemd 262-1 the contemporary repository package for this release, but the release page does not publish a complete ISO package manifest. The available release record therefore does not independently confirm that exact systemd build is present in the image.
Should you download the new ISO or update an existing Arch system?
The monthly ISO is intended for new installations. If Arch is already installed, update the system with pacman -Syu; you do not need to download a new ISO just to receive current packages. Arch explains this distinction on its download page.

How to use and verify the ISO
You can write the image to a USB flash drive, burn it to a DVD, or mount it, depending on your installation setup. Before booting from a downloaded copy, verify it using the checksum or signature instructions on Arch’s download page. Compare the file against the checksum for this exact release, not one for another monthly image.
