No customizable RGB earcup lighting is documented for the original SteelSeries Arctis 7. SteelSeries’ feature materials describe its audio, microphone and battery capabilities, but do not list RGB earcup controls. The RGB illumination options sometimes associated with Arctis headsets belong to the separate Arctis Pro line.
What “RGB lighting” means for the Arctis 7
For this question, the relevant feature is customizable illumination on the headset’s earcups—not whether the headset might have a status indicator. SteelSeries’ published Arctis 7 materials do not document customizable RGB earcup lighting, so it is safest to say that this feature is not listed rather than claim the headset has no lights of any kind. An independent specification also lists RGB lighting as absent. SteelSeries Arctis 7 product information Independent Arctis 7 specifications
Why Arctis Pro RGB controls cause confusion
SteelSeries’ Engine 3.12.0 release notes, dated March 20, 2018, describe illumination controls for the Arctis Pro line—not the Arctis 7. The notes say: “In the Illumination panel you can create unique illumination effects for your earcups (each earcup is an individual zone) as well as set the RGB states of the mic LED when muted and unmuted.” They name Arctis Pro, Arctis Pro + GameDAC, and Arctis Pro Wireless as the supported models. Those options should not be attributed to the Arctis 7. SteelSeries Engine 3.12.0 release notes
Check the exact model before buying
Arctis 7 naming can be confusing: the original Arctis 7, Arctis 7+, and platform-specific 7P and 7X variants are not interchangeable model labels. SteelSeries distinguishes the original Arctis 7 from the 7+ in several practical ways:

SteelSeries’ October 29, 2021 announcement specifies 30+ hours for the Arctis 7+ and 7P+, and says a 15-minute charge provides up to 3 hours of use. Those figures apply to the updated models, not the original Arctis 7. Confirm the full model name and the seller’s listing details rather than relying on “Arctis 7” alone.
