Open Notification Center and scroll to look for older alerts that are still there. On the Lock Screen, swipe up from the middle of the screen; while using another screen, swipe down from the top-left corner. Apple says older notifications appear “if there are any,” so this is not an archive for alerts you have cleared or that are no longer present.

Swipe down from the top-left corner of the screen to open Notification Center. If that gesture is awkward on your screen, use the Lock Screen method instead.

Apple’s guide to viewing and responding to iPhone notifications describes these gestures and says to scroll up to see older notifications “if there are any.”

If alerts are stacked in a group, tap the group to see its individual notifications. The newest notification is at the top. Tap Show Less to collapse the group again.

If Notification Center is unavailable while your iPhone is locked
Access to Notification Center on the Lock Screen is controlled by the passcode settings:

Open Settings > Face ID & Passcode or Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, depending on your iPhone.

Under Allow Access When Locked, turn on Notification Center.
What if the notification was cleared?
Clearing an alert removes it from the current Notification Center view. That includes swiping left and choosing Clear or Clear All, or using the control to clear all notifications. Apple’s guide does not describe a way to restore cleared alerts, so Notification Center should not be treated as a notification history or recovery archive.
