Pakistan’s Establishment Division has reportedly given civil servants who have not filed foreign-status declarations one week to comply, warning that disciplinary proceedings may follow. The reported declaration covers more than dual citizenship: it also includes foreign travel documents and marriage to a foreign national, for the employee and their dependents.
What the warning says
Geo News reported on October 2, 2026, that the Establishment Division had directed officers with outstanding declarations to submit them within one week. The report reproduces wording attributed to an office memorandum: officers who failed to furnish declarations “within a week” are liable to proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020. The quoted passage does not identify a named official. Geo News’ report
Geo News said the officers included some from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Secretariat Group (SG) and Office Management Group (OMG). The report describes this as an additional compliance instruction for those who had not filed; it is distinct from the general filing period described in coverage of the underlying rules.

How the one-week warning differs from the reported 90-day period
Geo News and TechJuice report a 90-day period for civil servants to make an initial declaration after the rules are notified in the official Gazette. TechJuice identifies this as Rule 3(3) of the Civil Servants (Disclosure and Prohibition of Foreign and Dual Nationality) Rules, 2026. The separate one-week warning reportedly applies to officers still outstanding after the compliance process had begun. TechJuice’s report

According to the reports, the requirements include an initial filing on joining government service, annual declarations, and an updated declaration when the employee’s or a dependent’s relevant status changes. The reported initial 90-day transition period is tied to Gazette notification. The official text and prescribed form were not available in the reports, so the exact filing process, definitions and any exceptions remain unverified.

Possible consequences reported for non-disclosure
The coverage describes failure to declare, or making a false declaration, as misconduct under applicable service rules. Geo News additionally reports that concealment at the time of appointment could put the appointment at risk of being declared void. These consequences are reported interpretations; the underlying Gazette rules and memorandum would be needed to confirm their precise legal scope.
For an individual officer, the reported warning points to a potential service-discipline issue, not simply an administrative reminder. Anyone affected should consult the Establishment Division’s official memorandum, the notified rules and the prescribed declaration format for authoritative instructions rather than relying solely on news summaries.
