Samsung’s 2026 1Q Interim Report lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra at 163.6 × 78.1 × 7.9 mm and 214 g. By contrast, Ice Universe leak reporting cited by Android Authority and SamMobile on September 30, 2026, claims that the S27 Ultra could weigh 218 g and remain 7.9 mm thick.

The reported difference is therefore small: approximately 4 g, or less than 2% of the S26 Ultra’s listed mass. It is not an official Samsung specification and could change before a retail device is announced.
How can it weigh more without becoming thicker?
Thickness is only one physical dimension. A phone can retain the same outside thickness while gaining mass through denser materials, a larger battery footprint, revised internal shielding, magnets, camera hardware, or changes to the frame and display assembly. Engineers can also redistribute components across the phone’s length and width rather than stacking more material vertically.

A larger or denser battery
The leading explanation in current coverage is a larger battery. Android Central reported a possible 5,700 mAh silicon-carbon battery on July 31, 2026. Silicon-carbon cells can potentially store more energy in a similar volume, although the leak does not establish the cell’s exact dimensions, mass, or production design. A battery change could add several grams while fitting within the same 7.9 mm envelope.
Other internal changes
Some reports mention possible Qi2 magnets, camera revisions, or other component changes. No cited source provides a verified component-by-component weight breakdown, so those possibilities cannot explain exactly where the alleged 4 g comes from. They should be treated as hypotheses rather than specifications.

Is the S27 Ultra getting a bigger battery?
That remains unsettled. One leak says 5,700 mAh and associates the pack with silicon-carbon chemistry. Earlier reporting summarized by Tom’s Guide on June 1, 2026, described a battery capacity greater than 6,000 mAh. Those claims do not agree, and neither has been confirmed by Samsung.

The silicon-carbon battery, 5,700 mAh capacity, possible capacity above 6,000 mAh, Qi2 magnets, and camera changes are all reported or inferred rather than confirmed specifications. There is no dependable public accounting showing how much any one component contributes to the alleged 4 g increase.

A 4 g increase is unlikely to transform one-handed use by itself. It is smaller than the variation caused by many phone cases, screen protectors, or manufacturing tolerances. The unchanged 7.9 mm figure would matter more to buyers choosing a case or comparing the phone’s profile. The practical benefit, if the battery rumor proves accurate, would be greater endurance rather than a thinner handset.

When could the Galaxy S27 Ultra launch?
The S27 series is expected in early 2027, but no official launch date was identified. Samsung could revise the design, battery, dimensions, or weight before announcement. Retail listings, certification documents, and Samsung’s own product page will be more reliable than pre-release leak figures.
What to check before treating 218 g as final
