Samsung raised U.S. prices for the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra on October 1, 2026. The new starting prices are $999, $1,199 and $1,399, respectively; the 1TB S26 Ultra now costs $1,999. The reported Galaxy S26 FE price remains $699. The increases also reached markets outside the U.S., though the amounts vary by country.
How much do the Galaxy S26 models cost now?
Tom’s Guide reported the following U.S. prices after Samsung’s October 1, 2026 increase. Storage-specific prices below are included where the reporting or Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet establishes them.
| Model and storage | Earlier U.S. price | Reported price after October 1 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26, 256GB | $899.99, Samsung’s March 2026 unlocked MSRP | $999 starting price, Tom’s Guide report | About $100 |

Samsung’s official figures are unlocked U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail prices from March 2026; the later figures are reported prices, not a complete official storage-by-storage price list. AP’s February launch report rounded the initial starting prices to $899 for S26, $1,099 for S26+ and $1,299 for S26 Ultra. Comparing those rounded launch figures with the later reported starting prices gives increases of roughly $100 each.
Why did Samsung raise Galaxy S26 prices?
Reporting on the increases points to higher memory-component costs and pressure on handset margins. Seoul Economic Daily connected the Korean price increases with sharply rising memory-chip prices and margin pressure. Asia Business Daily reported that Samsung Electronics’ mobile-memory price in the first half of 2026 was about 211% above the prior-year average. The reported comparison concerns Samsung’s memory pricing, not the retail price of a phone or a forecast for future component costs.

Samsung America Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Management Drew Blackard said, “We’ve been able to maintain prices for a pretty long time.” That comment gives context to Samsung’s pricing position, but does not by itself establish the company’s full reasoning for each market or model.
Did Samsung raise prices outside the U.S.?
Yes. GSMArena checked Samsung stores in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., mainland Europe and India, and found higher prices in each market. The amounts differ by market and currency, so the U.S. figures above should not be applied to overseas purchases. In South Korea, Asia Business Daily reported increases of 149,600 won for 256GB and 512GB versions of the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra from October 1.

Should you buy a Galaxy S26 now?
There is no universal answer: compare the actual checkout price, not just the new list price. A carrier offer, Samsung promotion or trade-in credit may change what you pay, and those offers can vary by region and date. If you are considering a different storage tier or an older Galaxy model, compare the total out-of-pocket cost alongside the features you would give up or gain.

The published starting price does not establish the price of every storage option.
- Calculate trade-in value: Compare the credit with the value of keeping, selling or trading your current phone elsewhere; promotional credits may depend on device condition and eligibility.
- Compare the alternatives: Weigh the S26’s size and camera features against the price of a larger model or an older Galaxy, rather than assuming the newest model is the best value.
- Account for where you will use it: For a cross-border purchase, check warranty coverage and network compatibility as well as the local price.
- Consider waiting only if the discount is worth it: A future sale could lower the effective price, but its timing and amount are not established by the current price reports.
If you have already found a suitable offer, compare its final price after taxes, trade-in terms and any required plan or carrier conditions. For unlocked purchases, Samsung’s March MSRP sheet is a useful baseline, but it predates the October increase.
