As of October 2, 2026, the latest exact PS5 system-software version visible in the MewX firmware index is 26.06-14.00.00, with a listed build date of September 9, 2026. That index is a cross-check, not Sony’s release-notes source: check Sony’s live support page and your console for the authoritative current update. The available information does not establish what features or fixes this build includes.

What is the latest PS5 system software version?

The MewX firmware index lists version 26.06-14.00.00 as its latest exact version, with a build date of September 9, 2026. Sony’s support page is the authoritative source for the current update file and official notes; its contents can change. The version number in the index does not establish that Sony has published a matching feature list or that every console has received the update.

To find out whether your console has the current version, check the version installed on the PS5 and compare it with the update Sony currently offers. If you are reading this later, verify Sony’s live support page before relying on the version above.

How do I check my PS5 firmware version?

  1. On the PS5 home screen, open Settings > System > System Software > Console Information.
  2. Read the system-software version shown on the Console Information screen. Sony says the console displays “Up to date” when the latest version is installed.

How do I update PS5 system software?

Update over the internet

  1. Open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
  2. Select Update System Software and follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available.

Update from a USB drive

Use a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Sony’s update procedure calls for approximately 1.1 GB of free space for the update file.

  1. On the USB drive, create the folders PS5/UPDATE.
  2. Download the official PS5 update file from Sony’s support page and save it in that folder as PS5UPDATE.PUP. Check the folder path and filename carefully; they must match.
  3. Connect the USB drive to the PS5. Turn the console off, then press and hold the power button until you hear the second beep to start Safe Mode.
  4. In Safe Mode, choose Update System Software > Update from USB Storage Device and follow the prompts.

Can I reinstall PS5 system software without losing data?

No. Sony’s system-software reinstallation procedure uses a separate reinstallation file and deletes console data; it is effectively a factory or hard reset, not a routine update. Back up anything you need before proceeding. Sony specifies approximately 1.2 GB of free USB-drive space for the reinstallation file. Use the reinstallation instructions and file provided by Sony rather than the ordinary update file.

What did the newest PS5 update change?

The available version index identifies 26.06-14.00.00 but does not provide an established feature or fix list for it. Sony’s live support page is the place to check for notes accompanying the update; do not infer specific changes from the version number alone.
