This captures content below the visible screen; an ordinary operating-system screenshot usually captures only what is currently on screen. The desktop steps are described in a Chrome Community answer, so Google does not guarantee that the command is available in every Chrome version or configuration.
Capture a full GitHub page in desktop Chrome
Use Chrome DevTools when you need one image of the page from top to bottom rather than a picture of only the visible browser window. The workflow below was described in a Chrome Community response published March 6, 2025; it is a community-described method, not an official Chrome Help procedure.
- Open the GitHub page in Chrome and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open DevTools: press Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+Option+I on Mac.
- Open the DevTools command menu: press Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+Shift+P on Mac.
- Type capture full size screenshot in the command search.
- Select the matching command. Check the resulting image to confirm it includes the page content below the fold.
The sequence and command wording come from the Chrome Community instructions. Chrome versions and browser configurations can differ; the source does not establish a guaranteed version range. A Chrome Community user reported that the resulting PNG was saved in Downloads, but your configured download location may differ.
Full-page capture or just the visible screen?
Choose the method according to what the image needs to show. DevTools’ full-size capture is the described desktop route for capturing content beyond the screen. If you only need what is currently visible, an operating-system screenshot tool can be simpler. The Chrome Community discussion mentions operating-system tools and extensions as alternatives, but does not name or endorse a particular extension. After either kind of capture, inspect the image: a visible-screen shot will not show material farther down the page.

Take a long screenshot in Chrome on Android
Android Chrome has a separate long-screenshot flow; the desktop DevTools keyboard shortcuts above are not the Android procedure. Google’s Chrome Help documents these steps:

If the command is missing or the capture is blocked
- You cannot find the command: Open DevTools first, then open its command menu with the shortcut for your operating system and search for the full phrase capture full size screenshot. The community instructions do not establish that the command exists in every Chrome release. If it remains unavailable, use another capture method and check the resulting image for below-the-fold content.
- Your work browser refuses screenshots: Screenshot prevention can be enforced for managed users and browsers with a Chrome Enterprise Premium license on supported platforms. Google says such a policy may block screenshots made by keyboard shortcuts, apps, or extensions that use Chrome’s capture API. If this is a managed device, ask your administrator whether the policy applies. Google also documents ChromeOS policy options for screenshot storage. - The image shows only the visible area: You may have used a normal screen-capture shortcut or tool rather than the DevTools full-size command. Repeat the DevTools procedure and verify that the saved image contains the page content below the fold.
- You cannot find the saved file: A Chrome Community user reported the capture saving as a PNG in Downloads, but that is not a guarantee for every browser setup. Check Chrome’s configured download location and the browser’s downloads list.
- You are following desktop steps on a phone: Use Android Chrome’s More > Share > Long screenshot flow instead; it is documented separately from DevTools.
