One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFirst decide what “all files” means: saving one page with the images and styles it needs, downloading every file linked from a page, or mirroring a bounded part of a site. For one page and its display assets, GNU Wget’s --page-requisites option is the right starting point. For a recursive offline mirror, use a depth and domain limit; for a visual mirror with a GUI, HTTrack is an alternative. Neither tool executes arbitrary JavaScript, so runtime-generated URLs may need to be found in the browser first.
Choose the download scope before you start
A browser page can point to many kinds of content, and the method depends on which set you mean. A “page plus assets” download collects the HTML and static resources needed to render it, such as images and stylesheets. A “linked files” download collects targets such as PDFs or ZIPs. A site mirror follows links through pages and directories, potentially collecting much more than one page.
- One page for offline viewing: use Wget with
--page-requisitesand link conversion. - Files linked from a page or directory: use a bounded crawl and restrict file extensions.
- A browsable local copy of a site: use HTTrack or Wget recursion, with an explicit boundary.
- JavaScript-built or authenticated downloads: inspect the browser’s network activity or use a direct export/download feature, then download authorized URLs.
Before downloading, confirm that you have permission to copy the material and that the crawl’s scope will not burden a site or collect unrelated content. A mirror also needs enough local disk space for the files it retrieves.
Download one page with its required assets using Wget
GNU Wget can retrieve a page and parse its HTML and CSS references to fetch resources needed to display it. In a terminal with Wget installed, run:

wget --page-requisites --convert-links --adjust-extension --no-parent https://example.com/page
Replace the example URL with the page you are allowed to save. Wget stores the retrieved content locally and adjusts links for offline browsing. The --no-parent option helps prevent retrieval from moving up to parent directories; it does not turn this into a general-purpose whole-site boundary. For a single page, do not add recursive retrieval unless you deliberately want linked pages or directories as well.
What the options do
--page-requisitesfetches resources required to display the page, including static images and stylesheets referenced in HTML or CSS.--convert-linksrewrites links so local copies can be followed more usefully offline.--adjust-extensionadjusts saved HTML filenames to use an appropriate extension.--no-parentlimits retrieval from ascending to a parent directory.
This is not a guarantee that every item a visitor can see will be saved. Resources loaded only after a script runs, content behind a login, and files not referenced in discoverable HTML or CSS can be missed.
Download linked PDFs or ZIPs with a bounded Wget crawl
If the target is a directory or section containing links to files, recursive retrieval is appropriate—but set the scope and depth intentionally. For a first-level crawl of a documentation directory on one domain, limited to PDFs and ZIPs, use:
wget --recursive --level=1 --no-parent --domains example.com --accept pdf,zip https://example.com/docs/
Here, --recursive follows links, --level=1 sets the crawl depth to one level, --no-parent avoids ascending above the starting directory, --domains restricts eligible hosts, and --accept filters by filename extension. Wget’s recursive mode follows links and directory structure and processes pages breadth-first up to the selected depth.
Adjust the URL, domain, depth, and accepted extensions to fit the actual site structure. A deeper level can collect more files, but it also increases the chance of retrieving unrelated pages or a large volume of content. Extension filtering is a useful safeguard, not a substitute for checking the crawl boundary.

Mirror a site with HTTrack
HTTrack is designed to copy a website into a local directory and rewrite links so saved pages can be browsed offline. Its normal “Download web site(s)” action follows the site structure. Its separate “Get individual files” action downloads only the addresses entered and does not follow links. The project’s overview describes its purpose as recursively building local directories and retrieving HTML, images, and other files from a site; the overview identifies version 3.50-4 on a page dated September 25, 2026.
Command-line mirror
httrack https://example.com/ --path mirror
This starts a mirror of the specified site. Use HTTrack’s scan rules to constrain what it follows when you do not want the entire reachable site. For a graphical workflow, choose “Download web site(s)” and enter the starting URL and destination. Review the project’s official guide and command-line options before applying filters to a large or complex site.
Download only a list of known files
httrack --get-files https://example.com/a.pdf https://example.com/b.zip --path files
This mode is useful when the file URLs are already known and link following is not wanted. It does not discover files linked from a page for you.
Keep HTML scaffolding when discovering PDFs
HTTrack’s official command-line guide includes a PDF-download recipe that retains HTML and directory-index scaffolding so PDF links can be discovered before other file types are excluded. That distinction matters: a filter that immediately excludes HTML may also remove the pages HTTrack needs to inspect to find the PDFs. Use the guide’s PDF recipe and scan rules for the exact filters rather than guessing a rule that may cut off discovery.
Understand JavaScript, login, and form limitations
Both approaches work by discovering URLs in content they can parse; they are not substitutes for a full interactive browser. HTTrack’s command-line guide explicitly says it does not run JavaScript, so URLs assembled at runtime—such as some lazy-loaded image paths—are invisible to its crawler and may be absent from a mirror. Wget’s page and recursive retrieval likewise should not be treated as executing arbitrary page scripts.

When expected files do not appear, open the page in a browser and inspect its Network panel while loading the content or triggering the download. Look for the actual request URL, then provide that URL to Wget or HTTrack if you are authorized to retrieve it. A page’s own export or download control is often the most reliable route for content generated by an application.
For some authenticated content, HTTrack supports a Netscape-format cookies.txt file exported from a browser and can capture a URL reached through a form submission. This does not guarantee that every login or application flow will work. Keep exported cookies private: they can grant access to your account, and should not be shared or placed in a public folder.

Resume, update, and verify a mirror
HTTrack keeps a cache that supports continuing an interrupted transfer and updating an existing mirror. Its guide documents --continue and --update; an update revalidates pages and retrieves changed content. The guide also warns that an update can purge files no longer present in the new crawl.
- Use continuation when a transfer was interrupted and you want to resume the same job.
- Use updates only when you understand that files absent from the latest crawl may be removed from the local tree.
- Preserve a separate copy before an update if losing previously downloaded files would matter.
- Read the transfer log, compare the resulting file count with your expectations, and, for important archives, compare hashes when you have trusted originals.
Wget can also be rerun, but the precise behavior depends on its options and the state of the local files. Check the Wget manual for the chosen retrieval and timestamping behavior rather than assuming every repeat is an exact resume or update.

Troubleshoot missing or incomplete downloads
The saved page opens without images or styling
Confirm that you used --page-requisites and that the assets were referenced in parseable HTML or CSS. Check the Wget output for failed requests. Assets loaded only after script execution may require inspection in a browser and a separate direct download.

The crawl downloads too much
Stop the job, narrow the starting URL, reduce --level, keep --no-parent, restrict hosts with --domains, and filter extensions with --accept. For HTTrack, revise its scan rules. Avoid starting from a site root if the goal is only a documentation directory or a short list of files.

Check whether the link is on a page within the selected depth and whether your extension filter matches its filename. Some links are created by scripts or require a form interaction; find the actual request in the browser and download its URL directly if permitted.
Downloads fail on an authenticated page
Check whether the URL works in the same authorized session. HTTrack can use an exported Netscape cookie file for some flows, but cookies expire and form-driven or script-heavy applications may not be supported. Do not try to bypass access controls.
An HTTrack update removes local files
Its guide warns that update mode can purge files no longer present in the new crawl. Restore from a preserved copy if needed; before future updates, duplicate the existing mirror and review the log and resulting file list.
The local copy is incomplete despite a successful run
A successful transfer only confirms what the tool discovered and retrieved; it does not prove that every intended item was present. Compare expected paths or counts with the local tree, inspect logs, and verify important files against trusted hashes or originals where available.

Performance, reliability, and storage
There is no established universal success rate or performance figure for either tool. Crawl time and storage needs depend on the number and size of files, server responses, network conditions, and the scope you choose. Keep depth and filters narrow, monitor the transfer output, and check available disk space before a large mirror. A USB flash drive is optional storage for carrying a completed local mirror; it is not required to download files.
Or skip the browser setup
If what you need is a screenshot rather than a local copy of the underlying files, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-call website screenshot API and an MCP server. This is not a replacement for downloading PDFs, ZIPs, or a site mirror. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers.
For example, use cURL to save a screenshot as WebP (replace the example URL and supply your API key):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The service also has an MCP server for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients, with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Every feature is on every plan. Frequently Asked Questions
Can Wget download every file on a webpage automatically?
Only files it can discover through the page and resources it parses are in scope; runtime-generated or access-controlled URLs may need to be identified separately.
Do I need a USB drive to download a website?
No. The mirror is saved to local storage; a USB flash drive is optional if you want to carry that directory elsewhere.
