Open the Reddit thread, use your device’s screenshot command, and capture the visible content. A standard screenshot records only what is on screen. For a thread longer than one display, use your phone’s conditional scrolling or Full Page option when it appears; otherwise take a sequence of overlapping screenshots while scrolling. On desktop, capture the thread in sections and keep them in order.
Choose the right way to preserve a Reddit thread

Use a screenshot when appearance matters—for example, documenting how a discussion looked at a particular time. Use a link when the recipient needs to open the live conversation. Reddit supports sharing a post and copying a comment link; the exact share-sheet choices vary by device, operating system, and installed apps. You can save a post from the overflow menu on reddit.com or in the iOS and Android apps, then find it through your profile.
iPhone: capture a Reddit thread
Take the normal screenshot
- Open the Reddit post and scroll to the part you want to preserve. Dismiss overlays that obscure the text.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together.
- On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the Home button and side button together.
- Tap the thumbnail preview if you need to crop, mark up, or share the image.
The resulting image contains only the current screen. If the thread is longer, repeat the process as you move down it.
Try Full Page when it is offered
- Tap the screenshot preview immediately after taking the shot.
- Select Full Page if that tab is available.
- Inspect the tall preview, crop away unrelated material, and save it as an image or PDF using the available controls.
Apple documents Full Page capture for content that extends beyond the display, such as a webpage in Safari. It does not promise that Full Page appears for every Reddit screen or every view in the Reddit app. If the tab is missing, the app view is not exposing a supported long document; use consecutive screenshots instead.

Make a readable sequence
- Begin with the post title and enough context to identify the thread.
- Scroll by a small, consistent amount so each screenshot overlaps the previous one.
- Keep usernames, comment scores, and timestamps visible when they are important to the record.
- Name files in order, such as reddit-01, reddit-02, and reddit-03.
Android: use scrolling capture when supported
Take the first screenshot
- Open the Reddit thread and position the screen at the beginning of the content you need.
- Use your phone’s screenshot command. The button combination differs by manufacturer, so follow the instructions for your model if the usual command does not work.
- Look at the screenshot toolbar or preview for Capture more, Scroll, or an equivalent control.
Extend the screenshot
Google says scrolling screenshots work on Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling. “Most” is important: the Reddit app, a particular screen, or a manufacturer’s software may not provide the control.
- Tap Capture more, Scroll, or the equivalent button.
- Drag the selection downward until it includes the required comments.
- Save the result and check the bottom edge for clipped text or an accidental jump.
Some manufacturers add their own implementation. Xiaomi, for example, provides separate scrolling-screenshot instructions; do not apply Xiaomi’s button sequence to every Android phone.
When scrolling capture is absent
- Take a screenshot of the visible post and comments.
- Scroll a screenful, leaving a recognizable overlap, and capture again.
- Repeat until the needed portion is complete.
- Review the set in order before sharing it.
Windows desktop: capture a long thread in sections
- Open the Reddit thread in your browser and resize the window so the text is comfortable to read.
- Use the Windows screenshot function or Microsoft Snipping Tool to select the relevant region or window.
- Scroll to the next section and capture it, keeping overlap with the previous image.
- Save each file with a numeric prefix so sorting preserves the reading order.
Snipping Tool supports screen and region capture. The Microsoft guidance cited for this workflow does not establish a Reddit-specific scrolling-capture feature, so plan on multiple captures for a thread taller than the window. If you need a single deliverable, combine the ordered images into a document or PDF after checking that no comments were skipped.
Other desktop systems
Use the built-in screenshot controls for your operating system to capture the visible Reddit window or a selected region, then scroll and repeat for the remaining comments. Keep the workflow platform-neutral because keyboard shortcuts and long-page support vary by operating system version, browser, and Reddit view. If a built-in tool offers a scrolling or full-page mode, verify that it actually includes the Reddit content before relying on it; otherwise, use overlapping sections.

How to capture comments without losing context
Start and end at meaningful boundaries
Include the subreddit, post title, and author context when those details are necessary to identify the thread. At the bottom, stop after the last comment or reply you intend to document rather than creating a huge image filled with unrelated recommendations.
Preserve nesting and order
Reddit’s indentation and collapsed replies explain who is responding to whom. Expand the replies you need before capturing them. In a multi-image record, overlap enough lines that a reader can tell where one image continues into the next.
Check dynamic content
Votes, awards, edit markers, deleted comments, and live replies can change after capture. If timing matters, keep the timestamp visible in your own notes and do not describe the image as a permanent copy of the thread’s underlying data.
Privacy and safe sharing
Inspect every image before posting it elsewhere. Usernames, profile images, quoted names, direct messages, email addresses, and other identifying details may be visible even when they are not central to your point. Reddit’s privacy guidance says to edit personally identifiable information out of screenshots when posting them.

- Crop away account details that are not needed.
- Use an opaque redaction tool rather than a translucent highlighter.
- Check the full-resolution file; a small preview can hide readable information.
- Do not expose private information belonging to another person.
- Remember that off-platform sharing may send additional device information to the destination service even though it is not visible to people viewing the shared content.
For a simple handoff, Reddit’s share link is often safer and clearer than an image because it directs the recipient to the original context. A saved post is better when only you need to return to it later.

There is no Full Page or Capture more button
The current app view, browser, manufacturer skin, or operating-system version may not support long capture. Take overlapping screenshots, or open the public thread in a browser and test the long-capture control there.

The long image stops before the last comment
Long capture can be limited by the screen type, app, memory, or a collapsed section. Capture the missing portion separately and verify that replies were expanded before starting.
Text is clipped or unreadable
Use a larger text scale or wider window, capture a smaller region, and avoid excessive zoom-out. For a sequence, keep overlap and inspect the saved files at full resolution.

Dismiss overlays before capturing, then crop or redact personal information. Recheck the original file after exporting or combining images because editing can reveal areas you thought were hidden.

Can I screenshot an entire Reddit thread in one image?
Sometimes. iPhone Full Page and Android scrolling capture are conditional features, not guarantees for every Reddit view. When unavailable, use an ordered series of overlapping screenshots.
Does saving a Reddit post create a screenshot?
No. Saving places the post in your Reddit saved list for later access; it does not create an image or PDF.
