A screenshot Zap has three parts: a trigger decides when it runs, a screenshot action captures the page, and a destination action stores or sends the result. For a recurring visual record, use a schedule trigger; for event-driven automation, choose a trigger from an app that represents the event you care about, if the needed trigger is available in your Zapier account.
- Trigger: A schedule can start a recurring capture. Zapier’s published template is a daily screenshot-to-Dropbox workflow.
- Capture: The screenshot action receives the website URL and returns an image or file output, depending on the integration and its configuration.
- Destination: Map the returned output into Dropbox or another destination action. Confirm the actual output fields in the Zap editor rather than assuming every integration names or formats them identically.
The template is a useful starting pattern, not a tested guarantee for every website or account. Validate the action output and destination mapping in your own Zap before relying on it for a record or operational process.

- Create a Zap and choose the schedule trigger. Set it to run daily and select the time or schedule fields Zapier presents.
- Add a screenshot action. Select the screenshot integration you intend to use. For GetScreenshot, choose its general website screenshot action for a page capture, or its advanced element action when you only need a component.
- Enter the page URL. Use the exact URL you want recorded, including any path or query parameters required to reach the intended page.
- Configure capture options. For a full-page image, enable full-page capture if the chosen action provides it. If the page renders content late, set an appropriate wait option where available. For an element capture, provide the target CSS selector.
- Test the screenshot step. Inspect the returned preview or file output, if shown. Confirm the page is the intended one and that the capture includes the content you need.
- Add Dropbox as the destination. Choose the upload action offered in your Zapier account, select the destination folder, and map the screenshot action’s returned image or file output to the upload field.
- Set a useful filename and test the complete Zap. Use available mapped date/time or page information where appropriate. Verify that the test produces a usable file in the intended folder before enabling the recurring Zap.
For a page-level screenshot, GetScreenshot documents a custom website screenshot action. For a specific chart, banner, or other component, its advanced element action needs a selector. Inspect the page to identify a stable CSS selector before building that version; a selector tied to a transient class may stop matching after the site changes.
Can Zapier capture a full webpage?
Yes, the listed integrations document full-page options: GetScreenshot includes full-page capture, HTML to Image lists full-page capture, and Screenshot API lists lazy loading among its controls. Enable the relevant option in the action’s live setup screen. “Full page” and lazy loading are not identical: a capture may need to wait for content or scrolling-triggered images to appear, so test the resulting file on the particular site.
Other documented controls can help tailor the result. GetScreenshot lists width, highlighted text, PDF instead of image, extra wait time, and custom CSS. Adapt the workflow to a different goal
Capture one element instead of the whole page
Choose GetScreenshot’s advanced element capture and supply a CSS selector for the target. First inspect the page and identify a selector that uniquely matches the component. Test it against the live page: if it matches nothing, the action cannot capture the intended element; if it matches multiple elements, the result may not be the component you meant.
Send a screenshot by email
GetScreenshot lists a screenshot-and-email action. If the goal is delivery rather than archiving, check whether that action meets your needs before adding a separate destination step. Verify the recipient and resulting message in a test run.

Use a different trigger or destination
The schedule-to-screenshot-to-Dropbox pattern is not limited to daily archives. Substitute another appropriate trigger or destination if the corresponding Zapier integrations and fields are available to you. Keep the handoff explicit: test that the trigger supplies the intended URL or context, that the screenshot action returns an output, and that the destination accepts that output.
Plan limits and workflow cost
The GetScreenshot Zapier listing says Zaps with three or more steps require a Starter plan. A schedule, screenshot action, and Dropbox upload form a three-step workflow, so check the current plan requirements shown in your Zapier account before building or enabling it. Capture volume also matters operationally: a daily workflow for one URL creates roughly one capture per scheduled run, while multiple URLs or more frequent schedules increase the number of action runs. Troubleshooting screenshot Zaps
- The screenshot shows a loading state or incomplete content: Increase the wait time or choose an available load-event option. Retest, especially for pages that render content after initial navigation.
- A full-page capture omits images: Check whether the action offers lazy loading or full-page behavior, then test the combination. Some content only appears after scrolling or additional rendering time.
- An element capture is empty or wrong: Recheck the CSS selector against the current page. Confirm it identifies the intended element and has not changed with the site’s markup.
- The destination receives no usable file: Return to the screenshot step’s test output and remap the actual image or file field to the destination upload field. Confirm the destination folder and test the complete Zap.
- The scheduled Zap does not run as expected: Review the trigger’s schedule and the Zap’s enabled status in the editor. The exact UI and account settings should be verified in your current Zapier account.
