Idealista’s English General Terms and Conditions, updated 30 April 2025, prohibit accessing, monitoring, or copying site and app content with robots, spiders, scrapers, or other automatic or manual processes without express written permission. The same terms prohibit commercial or competitive reproduction without prior written permission and forbid bypassing robots exclusions or access controls.
For an authorized project, request Idealista’s official Search API first. If you receive separate written permission to collect HTML, use a controlled crawler, obey robots.txt and technical limits, collect only the fields you need, and keep an audit trail. The tools described below help with implementation; none grants permission to copy Idealista data.
Choose the authorized route before collecting anything
Idealista’s terms contain this direct restriction: “Access, monitor, or copy any content or information included on the Website and Apps using any kind of robot, spider, scraper, or any other automatic or manual process to do so for any such purpose, without our express written permission.” That applies whether your code uses Python, Scrapy, a browser automation library, a hosted extraction service, or a package marketed as an Idealista scraper.
- Obtain express written permission for the exact properties, countries, fields, frequency, storage, and redistribution you plan to use.
- Do not assume a public page is public data. Visibility in a browser is not a license to copy or republish it automatically.
- Do not bypass controls. CAPTCHA or bot checks, login barriers, rate limits, robots exclusions, and other measures are stop signals, not obstacles to evade.
- Check commercial use separately. The terms also prohibit commercial or competitive reproduction without prior written permission.
If you cannot document permission, stop at a manual, non-automated use case and ask Idealista for an approved access method.

The official alternative: request Idealista Search API access
Idealista’s developer site describes a Search API for integrating property information published on Idealista into a site or application. The site provides a request-access workflow, but approval, quotas, fields, and redistribution terms are not guaranteed by the existence of that page.
- Describe your application, geography, intended fields, expected request frequency, retention, and whether results will be shown to third parties.
- Request Search API access through Idealista’s developer workflow.
- Read the issued license before coding. Record permitted fields, rate limits, attribution requirements, image rules, caching duration, and redistribution restrictions.
- Build against the response schema you are actually issued. Do not infer a complete field list from a search page or from an unofficial package.
- Keep the approval and license with your project documentation so later operators know what is allowed.

Define a small, auditable dataset
Write the data specification before making requests. Typical analytical fields include listing URL, sale or rental operation, location, price, area, rooms, bathrooms, features, and capture time. The cited documentation does not establish a complete authoritative schema, so treat these as examples and verify the actual API response or written permission.
- Scope: country or region, municipality, listing type, and whether withdrawn or duplicate listings are retained.
- Refresh policy: a specific cadence such as daily or weekly, subject to your license and API quota.
- Retention: how long raw responses, images, URLs, and derived statistics remain stored.
- Provenance: request timestamp, source URL or API request identifier, parser version, and permission record.
- Minimization: omit fields you do not need, especially personal contact information and full-resolution media unless expressly licensed.
Use a stable listing identifier or canonical URL for deduplication where your license permits it. Keep the first-seen and last-seen timestamps so price changes, withdrawn listings, and parser failures can be distinguished.
Build a controlled crawler only when HTML access is authorized
- Inspect the rules. Read the current Idealista terms, the permission letter, and robots.txt for every host you will request. A written permission that does not address a particular subdomain or geography should not be stretched to cover it.
- Start with a narrow seed set. Test one permitted search page and one listing page. Confirm that your fields are present and that your request volume is acceptable before expanding.
- Obey exclusions and limits. Configure your crawler to obey robots.txt, keep concurrency low, use a descriptive user agent if required, and stop on 403, CAPTCHA, or bot-verification responses.
- Cache responses. Reuse a permitted response while developing selectors. Caching reduces load and makes parser changes reproducible.
- Normalize and deduplicate. Convert prices and areas to typed values, preserve the original text for audit, and deduplicate by the permitted stable identifier or canonical URL.
- Validate continuously. Track missing prices, impossible numeric values, duplicate URLs, changed page layouts, status-code changes, and sudden drops in record counts.
Python: normalize authorized JSONL output
The following standalone script processes JSON Lines exported by an authorized API client or extraction tool. It does not make requests or defeat access controls. Save it as normalize_idealista_jsonl.py, then run python normalize_idealista_jsonl.py listings.jsonl normalized.csv.

Using Scrapy safely
Scrapy supplies general crawler and extraction patterns; it does not grant access rights. An authorized spider should set ROBOTSTXT_OBEY = True, limit concurrency, cache during development, and stop rather than retrying a bot challenge. Parse structured data such as JSON-LD when it is included and permitted, but verify every selector against the pages covered by your permission. The idealista-scraper package documents location/type listing commands and JSONL output; use the command and version documented by that package instead of copying an undocumented command from a blog. A hosted Property Web Scraper API likewise documents URL-based listing extraction, but its tooling description is not authorization.
Performance, reliability, and cost controls
- Throttle deliberately: low concurrency and a measured delay reduce service impact. Your written terms or API agreement take precedence over any default setting.
- Cache and checkpoint: persist raw responses and the last successful cursor or page so a restart does not repeat requests unnecessarily.
- Separate transient and permanent failures: network timeouts may be retried within your limits; 403, CAPTCHA, robots denial, and account suspension require human review.
- Measure data quality: alert on missing required fields, duplicate rates, sudden record-count changes, and parser exceptions.
- Budget the whole pipeline: include API request quotas, crawler compute, storage, image retention, monitoring, and maintenance. No reliable universal price or quota is established for Idealista access; use the terms issued to your account.
- Protect credentials: keep API keys and permission documents out of source control, rotate keys, and restrict access to raw data.
Troubleshooting common failures
403, CAPTCHA, or bot-verification response
Stop the job. Check permission, robots.txt, account status, and request volume. Do not rotate IPs, spoof users, solve challenges automatically, or otherwise bypass the control. Ask Idealista for an approved API or collection method.
API request denied or no approval
Approval is not guaranteed. Submit a more precise use case and request the fields, geography, quotas, retention, and redistribution rights you need. Until access is granted, do not substitute an unofficial scraper.

Empty or partial records
Log the raw response and schema version. A field may be absent for a legitimate listing, restricted by your license, or renamed. Compare against the issued API documentation rather than guessing from another exporter.
Selectors suddenly return nothing
Freeze the affected job, compare a cached response with a current authorized response, and update tests before resuming. Prefer stable structured data where permitted; page CSS classes are implementation details and can change.
Duplicate listings or changed prices
Deduplicate with the stable identifier or canonical URL allowed by your agreement. Store capture timestamps and retain the prior value so a real change is not mistaken for a duplicate.
