URL2PNG is a useful baseline because its plans include full-page screenshots, custom CSS injection, no watermarks, one HTTP request, autoscaling and 30-day caching. Its plans are month to month, and its plans page says there is no free account.
A replacement should therefore be judged on more than whether it can return a PNG. Check JavaScript rendering and wait behavior, full-page and element capture, CSS and script injection, anti-bot and location controls, output formats, cache and billing rules, quota and concurrency, API ergonomics, data retention, security and deployment location.

ScreenshotOne is a clear starting point when you want a conventional hosted screenshot endpoint. It publishes 100 free screenshots per month, then lists Growth at $79 per month for 10,000 screenshots and Scale at $259 per month for 50,000.
Its published capabilities include PNG, WebP and JPEG output, HTML and PDF rendering, caching, signed links, webhooks, stealth and location controls. It is easier than operating Playwright, but gives you less control over browser infrastructure and deployment.
3. Urlbox: for difficult pages and high-fidelity rendering
Urlbox is aimed at pages that need more than a basic URL render. Choose Urlbox when anti-bot behavior, proxy routing, localization, custom scripts or font and emoji handling are central requirements. Its broader feature selection and higher tiers can be unnecessary for a simple, predictable screenshot call.
4. Browserless: when screenshots are one part of browser automation
Browserless combines screenshot and PDF APIs with Playwright and Puppeteer support. It is a better platform choice than a screenshot-only API when the same system must handle browser sessions, automation, scraping, proxies or private deployment. It also offers licensed self-hosting.

Microlink is appropriate when an image is only one output from a broader URL-processing workflow. In addition to screenshots and PDF, it provides metadata, rendered HTML, text, functions, proxy resolution, configurable TTL, custom headers and ad or cookie blocking.

You control browser launch flags, network interception, authentication state, storage, retries and where rendered data runs.

That control comes with operating work: install and update browser binaries, provide isolation, manage concurrency and queues, secure untrusted URLs, observe crashes and timeouts, and decide how screenshots and cookies are retained. Playwright is a strong fit when those controls are requirements rather than incidental maintenance.
