Mozilla’s normal Firefox download button usually starts a small online installer. If you need a complete installer for offline deployment, repeat installations, custom folders, or managed computers, use Mozilla’s current All Firefox Downloads page or the enterprise download page.
The links below cover the current Firefox release, Beta, Developer Edition, Nightly, ESR, and platform-specific Windows, macOS, and Linux installers. Mozilla’s download links use download.mozilla.org; they redirect to the current build rather than embedding a permanently fixed version number.
Firefox offline installer download links
These are Mozilla’s official download pages. They are preferable to third-party download sites because the links are maintained by Mozilla and normally redirect to the latest available build for the selected product and platform.

Use the page’s Platform, Language, and Download controls to select the exact combination you need.
Windows full offline installer
Mozilla calls the complete Windows installer the full or offline installer. Unlike the simplified online installer, it lets you select a destination folder and shortcut options during setup.
Download it through Mozilla’s current interface
- Open the Firefox all-download page, or open the normal Firefox download page.
- Click Get Firefox or Download Firefox.
- On the Thank you for downloading Firefox! page, click Download in another language or operating system.
- Select the Firefox version, operating system, and language.
- Click Download.
On Mozilla’s custom-installation instructions, the equivalent control is labelled Edit: select the desktop version, operating system, and language, then download the setup file.
Windows architecture choices

The enterprise page also provides separate Firefox ESR and Firefox ESR MSI choices. Use its Select your download controls if you need another language, release, or architecture.
Install Firefox into a custom Windows folder
- Run the downloaded Firefox Setup file.
- When Mozilla Firefox Setup Wizard appears, click Next.
- Choose Custom, then click Next. Standard uses Mozilla’s normal installation choices.
- Choose the installation folder and the required shortcuts.
- Choose whether to create shortcuts On my desktop and In my Start menu Programs folder.
- Review the summary. It may include Use Firefox as my default web browser.
- Click Install. When installing over an existing Firefox installation, the button may be labelled Upgrade.
- Click Finish. Clear Launch Firefox now if you do not want to open it immediately.
The default locations are:
C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfor 64-bit Firefox on 64-bit Windows and for installations on 32-bit Windows.C:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefoxfor 32-bit Firefox on 64-bit Windows.
The custom wizard may also offer Mozilla Maintenance Service. This allows Firefox to update in the background without requiring a UAC confirmation for every update. The option may not appear for a limited user account or if the service is already installed.

If you run the installer as an administrator and accept the UAC prompt, Firefox is installed under Program Files and is available to all Windows users. If you cancel UAC or install from a non-administrator account, Mozilla may install it under C:Users<username>AppDataLocalMozilla Firefox; that installation is available only to that user.
An existing Firefox shortcut from another installation can be overwritten. Rename the existing shortcut first if you need to preserve it.
macOS offline installer
The enterprise page provides both the regular macOS disk image and a PKG package:
- Firefox latest for macOS — DMG installer
- Firefox latest for macOS — PKG installer
Separate Firefox ESR and ESR PKG downloads are available from the same enterprise page.
Install the Firefox DMG
- Download
Firefox.dmg. - Open it if Finder does not open it automatically.
- Drag Firefox to the Applications folder.
- Open Firefox from Applications.
- If macOS displays “Firefox” is an app downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it?, click Open.
- To remove the mounted installer, hold Control while clicking its disk window, then select Eject “Firefox”.
Do not run Firefox directly from the mounted Firefox.dmg, and do not drag the Firefox icon directly to the desktop as the installation method. Mozilla warns that doing so can cause lost data and settings.
Linux standalone tarball installer
Mozilla distributes Linux builds as compressed tarballs. The enterprise page currently includes separate 64-bit and ARM64 downloads:

Firefox ESR has separate 64-bit and ARM64 links. For Beta, Developer Edition, Nightly, another language, or a different release, use All Firefox Downloads.
Extract and run it for one user
- Download the appropriate Linux tarball.
- Open a terminal and go to Downloads:
cd ~/Downloads
tar xJf firefox-*.tar.xz
rm firefox-*.tar.xz- Move the extracted directory into your home folder:
mv firefox ~/firefox
~/firefox/firefox &To create a desktop shortcut, run:
ln -s ~/firefox/firefox ~/Desktop/A per-user tarball installation does not change system file-type bindings. Links opened from other applications may therefore continue using another Firefox installation.
Install the tarball system-wide
For a system-wide installation, move Firefox to /opt, add a command-line link, and install a desktop entry:
mv firefox /opt
ln -s /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/local/bin/firefox
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mozilla/sumo-kb/main/install-firefox-linux/firefox.desktop -P /usr/local/share/applicationsRun these commands with root privileges or prefix them with sudo where required. Tarball versus a Linux package
A distribution package may lag behind Mozilla’s official release, omit Firefox branding, or provide only ESR. A package-manager build and Mozilla’s standalone tarball are therefore not necessarily the same Firefox build.

Moving a Linux profile from Snap or Flatpak
If you replace a Snap or Flatpak installation with a tarball or distribution package, Firefox may not automatically use the old profile. Close every Firefox process first, then copy the profile data.
For a Flatpak profile:
mkdir -p ~/.mozilla/firefox/ && cp -a ~/.var/app/org.mozilla.firefox/.mozilla/firefox/* ~/.mozilla/firefox/For a Snap profile:
mkdir -p ~/.mozilla/firefox/ && cp -a ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/* ~/.mozilla/firefox/Start the profile manager:
firefox -PSelect the desired profile. After the initial setup, you normally no longer need the -P option. Copying profile files while Firefox is open can produce incomplete or damaged data, so make sure all Firefox windows and processes are closed first.

Open the Firefox Enterprise downloads page and use the platform-specific Select your download controls. It separates the normal installer from enterprise package formats:

Version and support notes
Standard Firefox receives stable releases approximately every four weeks. ESR follows a different schedule: it receives regular security updates and major-version changes annually. Choose ESR deliberately; it is a separate release line, not simply an old copy of standard Firefox.

What is the official Firefox offline installer?
Use Mozilla’s All Firefox Downloads page and select the platform, language, and edition. On Windows, the full installer is reached through Download in another language or operating system or the equivalent Edit control.
Can I install Firefox without an internet connection?
Yes. Download the complete Windows installer, macOS DMG or PKG, or Linux tarball on a connected computer and transfer it to the offline computer. The installer itself may still need operating-system permissions, required libraries, or enterprise configuration supplied by your environment.
