Check Bluetooth devices from Quick Settings
For a faster view:
- Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icon beside the clock on the taskbar.
- Select the Manage Bluetooth devices chevron on the Bluetooth tile.
- Look under Your devices for paired devices.
Devices ready to pair appear under New devices. A device must be on and discoverable to appear there.

Confirm that an all-in-one printer includes a scanner
A multifunction printer may appear only under its printer name. Select it and look for Scanner settings on the device page. If that option appears, Windows recognizes its scanner component too.
Find a network scanner
If Windows does not find a network scanner automatically:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device beside Add a printer or scanner.
- If the scanner is still absent, select Add a new device manually beside The printer that I want isn’t listed.
- Follow the Add Printer instructions.
A wireless scanner and the Windows 11 PC must be on the same wireless network or SSID. A guest network can prevent discovery even if both devices have internet access.
View hardware connected to Windows 11 in Device Manager
Settings is useful for everyday devices, while Device Manager provides hardware properties and driver information.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand a relevant category, such as Bluetooth, Printers, Network adapters, Sound, video and game controllers, or Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click a device and select Properties.
The Properties window can show device status, driver information, hardware identifiers, and other details. A warning icon usually indicates a driver or hardware problem, not simply a disconnected state.
What to do when Windows 11 does not recognize a device
Fix a missing or unrecognized printer

To add the shared printer by path:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- If the printer is not listed, select Add manually.
- Choose Select a shared printer by name.
- Enter the printer’s UNC path: \\ComputerName\PrinterShareName.

Check whether the PC is an ARM device
Some Windows ARM PCs, including some Copilot+ PCs, cannot install printers through manufacturer-provided installer programs. To check the processor type, open Start > Settings > System > About and inspect Device specifications. An ARM computer shows ARM-based processor beside System type. In that situation, try adding the printer through Windows 11’s Printers & scanners page instead.
