Apple Support says a keyboard used with macOS can also be used for Windows installed on a Mac through Boot Camp. That guidance is scoped to Boot Camp; it is not a compatibility guarantee for every Windows PC.
Pair Magic Keyboard with Windows
- Turn on the Magic Keyboard and make sure it has charge or usable batteries, as appropriate for the model.
- On the PC, open Bluetooth settings and confirm Bluetooth is on.
- Choose the option to add a Bluetooth device.
- Select the Magic Keyboard when it appears.

Apple’s instructions for connecting a cable to automatically pair the keyboard apply to a Mac. For a Windows PC, use Windows Bluetooth settings rather than assuming that connecting a charging cable will pair it.
Understand the keys and layout
Mac and Windows keyboard layouts differ. Microsoft Learn’s Windows App mapping documentation says the Mac Command key corresponds to the Windows key in that mapping context. Try Command for a Windows-key shortcut, but do not assume every key behaves identically in every Windows app or setup.
If a shortcut or punctuation mark is unexpected, check Windows’ active keyboard layout under Settings > Time & language. Option and other special keys may behave differently depending on the keyboard and context, so test them rather than relying on a universal mapping.

Troubleshoot connection problems
- Confirm that Bluetooth is available and enabled on the PC.
- Check the keyboard’s charge or batteries, then turn it off and on again.
- Move the keyboard near the PC and repeat Windows’ Bluetooth discovery flow.
- If the keyboard is connected to another device, disconnect it or remove its pairing using that device’s own settings, then try again.
- If Windows finds the keyboard but typing or a shortcut does not work as expected, check the active keyboard layout and test basic typing in another app.
Apple’s troubleshooting advice to power-cycle the keyboard and check Bluetooth is written for Mac connections. The basic checks above are reasonable to try on Windows, but Mac-specific interface steps may not match Windows.
Do you need a driver?
Apple’s Windows documentation covers Apple keyboards used with Windows installed on a Mac through Boot Camp. The research does not establish a general-purpose Apple driver for every Magic Keyboard model on every Windows PC. Do not assume that installing Boot Camp software or a third-party utility will enable unsupported features.

Why isn’t my Magic Keyboard showing up in Bluetooth?
Check that the PC has Bluetooth and that it is on. Check the keyboard’s power, turn it off and on, move it near the PC, and retry discovery. If it is connected to another device, disconnect it there before trying again.
What does the Command key do on Windows?
Microsoft Learn describes the Mac Command key as corresponding to the Windows key in its Windows App mapping context. That is not an exhaustive mapping for every Magic Keyboard and local Windows setup, so test the shortcuts you need.
Does Touch ID work with Windows?
