1. Refresh Facebook and retry once
Reload the affected page or pull down to refresh in the app. If that does not help, fully close and reopen the Facebook app, then try the action once more. Repeatedly submitting a post, comment, message, purchase, or form may create duplicates if an earlier request completes later.
2. Check your connection
- Open another website to see whether your connection works beyond Facebook.
- If other sites also fail, check Wi-Fi or mobile data and your network before changing Facebook settings.
- If possible, compare Facebook on Wi-Fi with Facebook on mobile data.
If other sites load but Facebook does not, continue with the app, browser, and feature comparisons below. Do not assume an outage without current evidence.

3. Compare the Facebook app and browser
- If Facebook fails in the app, try the same action in a browser.
- If it fails in a browser, try the app or another browser.
- If available, test on another device and network.
A problem limited to one app, browser, or device makes local software state worth investigating. If the same action fails across devices and networks, a Facebook-side or account/feature issue is more plausible, but these tests do not prove a root cause.
4. Update and restart
Install any available Facebook app update from your device’s official app store, then close and reopen the app. If the problem persists, restart the device and test again. Menus and update steps vary by device and software version.
Android provides app-cache controls on many devices, while iOS and iPadOS do not offer a universal Facebook cache button. Avoid treating cache clearing as a guaranteed fix.

5. For browser-only failures, test local browser state
- Open Facebook in an Incognito or private window and try the same action.
- If it works there, temporarily disable browser extensions one at a time and test again.
- If needed, remove Facebook-related temporary site data and retry.
These checks can help identify browser-specific problems; they do not diagnose Facebook’s internal systems. Removing site data or cookies can sign you out, so make sure you can sign back in before doing so.

6. If one feature or action fails
If only a particular Search, Marketplace, Group, Page, comment, or posting action fails, test another Facebook surface. Check Facebook notifications, Account Status, Support Inbox, or equivalent notices if available; feature names and availability can vary by account, country, device, and interface version.
A query error alone does not show that you have a permanent restriction, that your account was hacked, or that a specific listing or post caused the problem. If the action continues to fail across devices and networks, check the available notices and report the affected feature.

7. Report the error to Facebook
If basic checks do not help, use Facebook’s in-product Help & Support and Report a problem option, or the closest equivalent currently visible in your account.
- Include the exact error text and describe the feature and action that failed.
- Provide your device and operating system, app or browser, approximate time, and network used.
- Say whether you tested another device, browser, or network and what happened.
- If you attach a screenshot, redact passwords, login codes, payment details, and private messages.
Use Facebook’s in-product reporting tools rather than unofficial support accounts.
