An email address and phone number are useful for recovery, but neither is a universal requirement during signup.
The most reliable, directly documented signup route is Roblox’s account-creation page: roblox.com/CreateAccount.
What you need to sign up for Roblox

Do not enter a false birthday simply to access features intended for an older age group. Correcting an account’s birthday later can require parental consent or government-ID age verification, depending on the correction and the account’s circumstances.
How to sign up for Roblox on a PC
- Open Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, or another current browser.
- Go directly to https://www.roblox.com/CreateAccount.
- Enter the requested birthday, username, and password.
- Leave the optional gender selection blank if you do not want to provide it.
- Complete the account-creation prompts shown by Roblox.
- When signup finishes, remain on the Roblox website and start browsing experiences, or sign in later at roblox.com.
Choosing a Roblox username
Your username is the account’s unique identifier, so it is different from your Display Name. Roblox allows the Display Name to be customized later, but changing that does not change the underlying username.

Use a nickname rather than a real name, school name, address, birth year, or other identifying detail. If Roblox says a username is unavailable, try a different combination instead of repeatedly submitting the same one.
How to sign up for Roblox on a phone
Option 1: Use a phone browser
This is the clearest mobile method because it uses Roblox’s official account-creation URL:
- Open Safari, Chrome, or another browser on your phone.
- Visit https://www.roblox.com/CreateAccount.
- Enter the birthday, unique username, and password requested on the page.
- Complete the remaining on-screen account-creation prompts.
- After the account is created, you can use the Roblox app to log in.
Option 2: Use the Roblox app
Install the official Roblox app from your device’s app store and open it. The current app signup button and field labels are not documented in Roblox’s available help information and may vary by platform or version. Follow the signup option shown in your app, if available; otherwise, use the phone-browser method above to create your account.
After signup, the documented mobile login path is:
- Open the Roblox app.
- Tap Login.
- Enter the account’s Username and Password.
- Tap Login.
Should you add an email address?
Yes, adding one is strongly recommended even though Roblox does not universally require an email to create an account. A verified email gives you a standard way to reset a forgotten password.

Add and verify an email after signup
- Sign in to Roblox.
- On a PC, select the gear icon in the upper-right corner and choose Settings. On mobile, tap More, shown as the three-dots icon, and open account settings.
- Open Account Info.
- Select Add Email.
- Check the email inbox and follow the instructions in Roblox’s verification message.
If the email does not arrive within a few minutes, check Spam or Junk. Roblox also recommends adding email_validate@roblox.com to your contacts and trying the verification process again.
For an under-13 account, a parent or guardian can verify a parental recovery email through Settings → Account Info. That email can be different from the email used on the parent’s linked Roblox account.
Can you add a phone number?
Phone-number features are available only in select countries, so the option may not appear on your account. If it is available, add it after signup by opening:
Settings → Account Info → Add Phone
Roblox may send the verification code through WhatsApp or SMS. A phone number is not a general requirement for making a Roblox account.

How to protect the new account
- Verify an email: This enables the normal email-based password-recovery route.
- Use a unique password: Do not use the same password as an email, gaming, or school account.
- Enable 2-Step Verification: On a browser, go to Settings → Security. On mobile, go to More → gear icon → Security. Roblox requires a verified email address before 2-Step Verification can be enabled.
- Keep the username private where practical: Do not post recovery details or passwords in chat, videos, or public profiles.
How to log in after creating the account
On PC
Open a browser and go to https://www.roblox.com/. Enter the username and password in the login form. If mobile login is failing, Roblox identifies browser login as the fallback route.
On mobile
Open the Roblox app, tap Login, enter the Username and Password, then tap Login.
You may also be able to log in with a verified email address, but email login requires that the email be verified. If the same email is attached to more than one username, Roblox displays: “Your email is associated with more than 1 username. Please login with your username.”
Phone login is also limited: it requires a verified phone number and works only in some Roblox apps. If it fails, enter the number exactly as it is stored or use the username or email instead.

What to do if you forget the password
- Open the Roblox login page.
- Select Forgot Password or Username?
- On the Recover your Roblox Account page, choose email recovery or phone recovery.
- For email recovery, submit the verified email address and use the Reset Password link in the message.
- For phone recovery, choose Phone, select Continue, complete Verify, enter the received Code, and select Submit.
If no email address or phone number was added to the account, Roblox’s automated reset system cannot reset the password. In that situation, contact Roblox Customer Support and be prepared to verify ownership of the account.

Can I change the birthday on a Roblox account?
Sign in and open Settings → Account Info, then select the pencil icon beside the birthday. Depending on the change, Roblox may require government-ID age verification for users 13+ or parental consent. A linked parent can update a child’s birthday only once, and a birthday cannot be changed through parental controls after government-ID age verification has been completed.
Can I use my real name as my Roblox username?
It is better not to. Roblox advises avoiding a real name and other personal information. Use a nickname or another non-identifying username; you can customize the separate Display Name later.
