Before installing Sims 4 mods
Back up your save files first. On Windows, the usual saves folder is Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves; on Mac, look in the same Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder. Copy the saves folder somewhere safe before adding mods.
- Download mods from the creator’s official site or official distribution page.
- Extract ZIP or RAR archives; the game cannot load files while they are compressed.
- Place files in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods.
- Go to Game Options > Other and enable Custom Content and Mods. Follow the mod creator’s instructions for script mods.
- Restart the game after changing the setting.
Script mods must be no more than one folder deep: Mods/MCCC works, while Mods/Script Mods/MCCC may not. After a game update, check every script mod before loading your main save. The game may disable mods automatically. If you open a save with mods disabled, choose Menu > Exit Game, then confirm Exit Game; do not choose Save and Exit, because EA warns that modded content may be removed from the save.

1. MC Command Center
Creator: Deaderpool
MC Command Center (MCCC) offers NPC story progression, population management, marriage and pregnancy settings, aging rules, career controls, household tools, and cheats. The verified release is MCCC 2026.4.0, tested against patch 1.126.58.
MC Woohoo is an optional module, not a requirement for ordinary MCCC features. Extract the required script file and any modules you use. When upgrading, remove old MCCC script and package files but retain mc_settings.cfg, mc_tuner.cfg, and mc_dresser.cfg to preserve settings. Keep the folder no more than one level deep in Mods. Check MCCC downloads and the installation guide.
2. UI Cheats Extension
Creator: weerbesu
UI Cheats Extension lets you edit needs, funds, relationships, skills, careers, aspirations, moodlets, event goals, bills, traits, milestones, weather, time, and seasons through interface actions. Version 1.57 was updated July 25, 2026 for game version 1.126.58; older game versions may not work correctly.
In Live Mode, enter ui_cheats.mod_version in the cheat console to check the installed version, or right-click the notebook icon beside the phone icon. If dialogs open but values do not change, check that the script file is present, scripts are enabled according to the creator’s instructions, and the files are not nested too deeply. 3. Better Exceptions
Creator: TwistedMexi
Better Exceptions creates reports for gameplay exceptions, UI problems, CAS glitches, and possible mod conflicts. It is a diagnostic tool, not an automatic repair: a Last Exception does not prove the named mod caused the issue. Outdated custom content, another mod, or an EA game error may be responsible.
Install the creator’s script file directly in Mods. Update likely candidates and use a 50/50 test—remove half your mods at a time—to isolate conflicts. Check TwistedMexi’s mod page and MCCC troubleshooting guidance.
4. Better BuildBuy
Creator: TwistedMexi
Better BuildBuy organizes Debug and Live Edit objects, improves catalog filters, and expands the catalog. It is primarily a catalog-management tool, not just a debug cheat. Place the entire tmex-BetterBuildBuy folder directly inside Mods, not inside another subfolder. Pressing 1 can expand the catalog to as many as five rows. Check the creator’s page and Carl’s mod list.
5. T.O.O.L.
Creator: TwistedMexi
T.O.O.L. gives builders fine control over object placement, including moving and editing objects beyond ordinary lot-placement restrictions. Install both the script and package files directly in Mods. Check patch compatibility before using it in a working save. See the creator’s mod page.

6. WonderfulWhims
Creator: TURBODRIVER
WonderfulWhims adds attraction, personality impressions, relationship attributes, menstrual cycles, fertility, birth control, persistent boredom, and related social mechanics without explicit adult content. The creator lists version 60 as compatible with game version 1.126.58. Lovestruck is optional.
Use ww.commands to display available commands. WonderfulWhims conflicts with WickedWhims, so install one or the other. Check the creator’s compatibility notes.
7. Relationship & Pregnancy Overhaul
Creator: Lumpinou
Relationship & Pregnancy Overhaul (RPO) is a modular collection covering relationship dynamics, pregnancy discovery and choices, reproductive decisions, family relationships, and related social systems. Read the creator’s documentation for module-specific settings and dependencies.
If you cannot find an interaction, consult the RPO interaction spreadsheet; its location depends on the module, Sims involved, and context. If no RPO feature appears anywhere, check the installation. Read the core library documentation and Help Center.

8. Healthcare Redux
Creator: adeepindigo
Healthcare Redux adds illnesses, chronic conditions, allergies, injuries, medical emergencies, medications, vaccinations, doctor appointments, insurance, pregnancy-related health conditions, and potentially fatal diseases. It requires the Base Game and Get to Work; other packs add features but are not all mandatory.
Open Healthcare Services on a Sim’s phone. For infants and toddlers, click the child directly to send them to an appointment. Read the death settings carefully: omit the optional death-disabler package if you want medical risks active. Do not mix its modules with adeepindigo’s GTW Health Overhaul modules; Healthcare Redux takes precedence. Check the mod’s requirements and documentation.
9. SNB Bills
Creator: SimRealist
SNB Bills replaces standard bills with separate charges for utilities and services, which can include water, sewer, electricity, trash, cable, internet, cellphone service, and property taxes. The verified file is SNB Bills 0.13.1 for patch 1.126.58.
Child support is not automatically active: the custodial parent must apply through the Government Benefits Portal before payments are due. Households that own rental properties and rent an apartment may receive property-tax charges weekly rather than every four weeks. Check the current download and documentation.

10. SNBank
Creator: SimRealist
SNBank adds individual and joint accounts, direct deposits, debit cards, account histories, and control over where income and payments go. It works with SNB Bills, but bill payment depends on account and debit-card configuration; do not assume it automatically draws from any account you choose.

11. Meaningful Stories
Creator: roBurky
Meaningful Stories changes mood duration, emotional inertia, uncomfortable moods, variable moodlets, and the way happiness works, making emotions less predictable and less disposable.
The visible public compatibility update covers game version 1.117, not patch 1.126.58. Treat this mod as “verify before installation,” not as confirmed compatible with the latest baseline. Do not install separate True Happiness, Emotional Inertia, Variable Moodlets, or Uncomfortable Overhaul mods alongside it, because those functions are included. Check the public changelog.

Creator: Carl’s Sims 4 Guide
Carl’s Gameplay Overhaul makes several systems more demanding, with features including burglars and changes to Dine Out and gardening. Carl’s public guide does not provide a current patch-compatibility number, so check the current release information rather than assuming it works with patch 1.126.58.
If the mailbox option disappears after a major patch, replace the old file with the version from the current release listing. Check Carl’s mod guide and forum support thread.
13. Childbirth Mod
Creator: PandaSama
PandaSama’s Childbirth Mod expands pregnancy with natural birth, planned C-sections, hospital procedures, midwifery, nursing-school gameplay, home-birth features, and additional animations. Get to Work is required. The verified February 14, 2026 release is v1.95.
Manually remove the old version before installing an update; leftover files can prevent features from appearing or cause duplicate tuning. The death-enabler file is optional and should be installed only if you want patients to have a chance of dying. See the update and creator FAQ.

14. SimDa Dating App
Creator: LittleMsSam
SimDa adds phone and computer dating options, including additional dates and blind dates. Download the individual SimDa Dating App file from LittleMsSam’s current catalog. “LittleMsSam’s mods” is not one combined mod; each download has its own behavior, requirements, and update status. Carl’s mod list also treats SimDa as a separate download.
15. Live-In Business
Creator: LittleMsSam
Live-In Business lets a residential lot function as a home business, with options such as a café, bar, daycare, club, vet clinic, or retail-style business. It uses mod-provided lot traits and is not identical to an EA business system. Apply the appropriate trait to the home lot and check the individual download’s instructions and current compatibility. 16. WickedWhims
Creator: TURBODRIVER
WickedWhims is an adult-content mod with explicit animations, nudity, sexual preferences, adult interactions, and related WooHoo mechanics. Use it only if that content is appropriate for your household and save. It conflicts with WonderfulWhims; WonderfulWhims is the non-explicit alternative, not a companion module. Check the creator’s conflict information.
17. Basemental Drugs
Basemental Drugs adds drug use, addiction, dealing, criminal activity, and related mature gameplay systems. It can significantly change a save’s tone and affect careers, relationships, and household stability. Treat it as adult-themed gameplay, not a simple realism tweak; download it from the creator’s current page and check compatibility after patches.

18. First Impressions
Creator: Lumpinou
First Impressions gives Sims more differentiated reactions when they meet, so new relationships can begin with early opinions rather than a neutral starting point. Consult Lumpinou’s Help Center for required downloads, shared libraries, and the correct interaction location. If no feature appears in-game, check the installation first. Visit Lumpinou’s Help Center.
19. R|E
Creator: SimRealist
R|E expands real-estate gameplay with property buying and selling, rental-property management, landlords, and tenant experiences. It requires the current version of SNB Bills; install and update that dependency first. Check both creators’ compatibility notes before adding it to an established save.
20. Lot 51 Core Library
Creator: Lot 51
Lot 51 Core Library is shared infrastructure for other Lot 51 mods, not a gameplay overhaul. Installing it alone adds no visible player-facing gameplay. Extract the archive, place its script file in Mods no more than one folder deep, and keep only one copy. If a dependent mod reports that the library is missing, search Mods for duplicate or renamed copies. Check Lot 51 patch status.
How to troubleshoot a modded Sims 4 installation
- Check the patch date. Start with the creator’s changelog, not an old roundup.
- Remove duplicates. Search Mods for old versions, numbered copies, and leftover files.
- Delete the cache. Remove localthumbcache.package from the main Sims 4 folder after changing major mods.
- Test without mods. Move Mods out of the game folder and launch the game. Do not save your main game while testing with mods disabled.
- Use a 50/50 test. Restore half the mods and test; repeat with the failing group to find the conflict.
- Read the creator’s support page. Check for required libraries, optional modules, and installation rules.

Can I install Sims 4 mods on PlayStation or Xbox?
No. The Sims 4 supports mods and custom content on PC and Mac, but not on PlayStation or Xbox. See EA’s installation guide.

Where should Sims 4 mods be installed?
Use Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods on Windows or the equivalent folder in Documents on Mac. Extract archives before copying the files.
Why is a script mod not appearing in the game?
Check that the script file is extracted, the relevant mod settings are enabled, and the file is no more than one folder deep inside Mods. Also remove duplicate or outdated versions.
Can WonderfulWhims and WickedWhims be installed together?
No. They conflict. WonderfulWhims is the non-explicit alternative to WickedWhims, so choose one.
Does Lot 51 Core Library add new gameplay?
No. It is a shared dependency for other Lot 51 mods and does not provide ordinary gameplay features by itself.

What should I do after a Sims 4 patch disables mods?
Exit without saving, check each creator’s compatibility notes, update or remove outdated files, clear the cache, and test with a backup save before returning to your main save. EA’s mod-update guidance explains the safe exit process.
The Bottom Line
For broad improvements, consider MC Command Center, UI Cheats Extension, and Better Exceptions. Add Better BuildBuy or T.O.O.L. if you build often, then choose focused systems such as WonderfulWhims, Healthcare Redux, SNB Bills, or RPO.
Do not install all 20 at once. Add a few mods, launch the game, test a backup save, and keep a record of each file and dependency. That makes the next patch easier to troubleshoot.
