Use QuickSupport for a one-time attended support session, the full TeamViewer client to provide and receive support, or TeamViewer Host for unattended access to a computer when nobody is present to accept the connection.
TeamViewer’s Windows download portal currently lists version 15.80.4, although that number can change. Check the official download portal immediately before installing. The steps below cover the current Windows workflow, with notes where TeamViewer’s documentation refers specifically to the older “TeamViewer Classic” installer.
Choose the right TeamViewer download

Do not install QuickSupport if your goal is unattended access. QuickSupport is designed for a person at the remote computer to run it and approve the support session. Use Host or the full client instead.

For Windows 11 on ARM, TeamViewer lists version 15.80 or later for native ARM operation and version 15.67 or later when the application runs through x86/x64 emulation. On ARM, TeamViewer lists the normal incoming and outgoing connection capabilities except driver-based features: VPN, Remote Printer, and SmartCard support.
Those support dates are estimates, not guarantees. TeamViewer says they can change if Microsoft ends security updates for the relevant Windows release earlier. TeamViewer generally supports an operating system for up to 12 months after its provider stops delivering security updates.
Download TeamViewer for Windows 11
- Open TeamViewer’s Windows download portal.
- Choose the module that matches your use case: QuickSupport, the full client, or Host.
- For the full client or Host, select the appropriate architecture: 64-bit, 32-bit, or ARM64. Most modern Intel and AMD Windows 11 PCs use 64-bit. Choose ARM64 for a compatible Windows 11 ARM computer when you want the native build.
- Save the installer or executable. Windows normally places it in the Downloads folder.
You can also use TeamViewer’s web client without downloading the desktop client. It can start connections to saved contacts or devices and can use session links, session codes, or TeamViewer IDs. The desktop client is the better choice when you need installed-device features or regular access.
Install the full TeamViewer client
TeamViewer’s published installation instructions use the following labels. They are documented for TeamViewer Classic, so wording may differ slightly in a newer TeamViewer Remote build.

- Open the downloaded setup file.
- Under How do you want to proceed?, select Default Installation.
- Click Accept – next.
- Accept the EULA and DPA by selecting the relevant checkbox.
- Click Continue and allow Windows to complete the installation.
If the installer offers Install and set up unattended access to this device, select that option instead when you need to connect later without someone approving the session. Click Accept – next; the full client will install and begin the unattended-access setup.
Set up unattended access during installation
- When the Grant Easy Access window appears, enter the email address and password for the TeamViewer account that should access the computer.
- Click Assign.
- Enable Start TeamViewer when restarting this system if the computer must remain accessible after a reboot.
Only assign the computer to an account you control or explicitly trust. Easy Access is intended to let that account connect without someone at the Windows 11 PC accepting each connection.
Install TeamViewer Host
Host is the more direct choice for a computer that needs regular unattended access.
- Download TeamViewer Host from the Windows portal.
- Open the Windows Downloads folder.
- Run TeamViewer_Host_Setup.exe.
- Click Next.
- After installation finishes, select I accept the EULA and the DPA.
- Click Continue.
The Host window closes after setup, but TeamViewer continues running in the background. Open it from the Windows system tray. To associate the computer with your TeamViewer account:

- Open TeamViewer Host.
- Click Manage this device.
- Sign in with your TeamViewer credentials.
Connect to an unattended Windows 11 computer
- Sign in at web.teamviewer.com or open the TeamViewer Remote client.
- Open the Device list.
- Select the Windows 11 computer.
- Click Connect.
The remote computer must be powered on, connected to the network, and running TeamViewer or Host. If it is asleep, offline, blocked by a firewall, or has not started TeamViewer after a reboot, the connection may fail.
Use QuickSupport for one-time attended help
QuickSupport is appropriate when a technician, friend, or family member is helping you while you are sitting at the computer.
- Download QuickSupport from TeamViewer’s Windows portal or use the link supplied by the support person.
- Open the downloaded executable. You do not normally need to install it or provide administrator rights.
- Give the support person the displayed session code, or use the supplied session link.
- Approve the connection only after confirming who is requesting access.
- Close QuickSupport when the session ends.
QuickSupport does not turn the computer into a permanently available remote device. For that, install Host or the full client and configure unattended access.
Install Host remotely through QuickSupport
TeamViewer documents a remote QuickSupport-to-Host installation method for licensed users. It requires someone on the remote computer to accept the initial QuickSupport connection. If nobody can accept that first session, Host must be installed manually.

- Start and accept the QuickSupport session.
- In the remote-session toolbar, select Files & Extras → Install TeamViewer remotely → Install TeamViewer Host.
- Click Install Host module to confirm.
- TeamViewer closes and installs the Host module. Click OK, or allow the countdown to finish.
- When prompted to reconnect, click Wait for partner.
- After installation completes, click Reconnect.
Free-license users must install Host manually according to TeamViewer’s documentation; this remote installation workflow is for licensed users.
Security and licensing points
- Use attended access for strangers only when you initiated the support request. Never give a caller remote access merely because they claim to be Microsoft, a bank, or a security company.
- Do not share credentials or unattended-access assignments. Session codes should be provided only to the person who is helping you.
- Review unattended devices regularly. Remove computers and accounts that no longer need access.
- Personal use is limited. TeamViewer’s free version is for personal use, such as connecting between your own devices or helping friends and family. Work, organizational use, client support, and revenue-generating activity require a commercial license.
- Keep TeamViewer updated. TeamViewer states that older versions require a TeamViewer license and directs free users to use the latest TeamViewer Remote version.
Troubleshoot common installation and connection problems
