On Windows, you can try an unofficial launch switch to remove the rounded frame, but it may not work on every installation or continue working after an update.
This guide explains the current status, how to try the Windows workaround, and how to restore the default design. The current Stable release is 151.0.4129.72, released August 6, 2026, according to Microsoft’s Edge Stable release notes.
Check your Edge version first
Before trying any procedure, check which Edge build is installed:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner.
- Go to Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge.
Your version may differ if Edge has not updated yet or if you use a different release channel.

Can you change rounded corners in current Edge?
Not through a supported Edge setting. Current Stable does not have a Settings control for the rounded content frame, and the former experimental flag has been removed. Recent reports, including PiunikaWeb’s coverage of rounded-corner workarounds, describe the flag as unavailable in current builds.
The old control was called Microsoft Edge rounded corners and used this address:
edge://flags/#edge-rounded-containers
Opening that address in a current build may take you to the flags page without showing a matching option. That is expected; it does not mean the flag is merely hidden.
The removal happened progressively. Reports said the flag was no longer working by December 4, 2025, disappeared from Canary by April 20, 2026, and was removed or ineffective in main Stable builds by May 17, 2026. Edge 149.0.4022.52 was specifically reported as affected. See the related Edge Insider discussion.
How to disable rounded corners with the current Windows workaround
A Windows launch switch is the main unofficial workaround currently reported for removing the rounded frame:
--enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin
It must be added to the Edge shortcut used to start the browser. The workaround instructions caution that this is not an official setting.

1. Turn off Startup boost
Edge can keep background processes running after you close its window. Those existing processes can cause a later launch to ignore the switch in the edited shortcut.
- Open Edge and go to Settings and more (…) > Settings.
- Open System and performance.
- Turn off Startup boost.
- Close every Edge window.
2. Add the feature switch to an Edge shortcut
- Right-click the Edge shortcut you normally use. This may be on the desktop, taskbar, or in the Start menu.
- Choose Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, click the Target field.
- Move the pointer to the end of the existing command, add a space, and append the switch.
- Click Apply, then OK.
A typical target looks like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --profile-directory=Default --enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin
Do not place the switch inside the quotation marks around msedge.exe. It must come after the closing quotation mark. If your installation uses a different executable path, keep the path already shown in your shortcut and append only the switch.
3. Stop existing Edge processes
Before testing the modified shortcut, make sure no Edge process is still running. You can use Task Manager, or run this command in Command Prompt:
taskkill /F /IM msedge.exe
This forcibly closes Edge processes, so save any work in open tabs or web applications first.
4. Launch Edge from the edited shortcut
Start Edge using the shortcut you modified, not another pinned or unmodified shortcut. Check the address bar, page frame, cards, and other elements that previously showed rounded styling.

This workaround is not an official Edge setting. It may have no visible effect, may work only when Edge is launched through that particular shortcut, or may stop working in a future release.
How to restore the default rounded design
To undo the workaround, edit the shortcut again and remove:
--enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin
Leave the original executable path and any other arguments unchanged. Close all Edge processes, then start Edge from the restored shortcut. Rounded corners should return because they are the current default.
The old flags procedure
On older Edge versions that still exposed the control, the procedure was:

- Enter
edge://flagsin the address bar. - Search for Microsoft Edge rounded corners.
- Set the drop-down to Enabled to enable the rounded-corner design, or Disabled to remove or reduce it.
- Select Relaunch.
That procedure is included only for historical context. It is not a reliable solution on current Edge Stable. If the search returns no result, there is no remaining flag to configure.
What about “Try the new look and feel of Microsoft Edge”?
Older instructions sometimes direct users to Settings > Appearance and tell them to disable Try the new look and feel of Microsoft Edge. This is not a current universal control for rounded corners. Depending on the Edge build, the option may be absent, may control a broader interface experiment, or may no longer affect the rounded content frame.

Likewise, instructions that say to disable the rounded-corners flag without mentioning its removal are describing older builds.
Why the workaround may not change anything
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |

Which Edge elements are affected?
The rounded styling introduced in Edge 149-era builds was reported on more than the outer content frame. Examples included the address bar, news cards, and the Copilot search bar. The exact appearance can vary by operating system, Edge channel, and active interface experiments.
On Windows, reports say the flag was removed. On macOS, the rounded styling could still appear in some builds, but disabling the old control reportedly had no visible effect. The command-line switch described above is a Windows workaround and should not be assumed to work on macOS.

Where is the Microsoft Edge rounded corners flag?
The former flag was available at edge://flags/#edge-rounded-containers and was named Microsoft Edge rounded corners. It has been removed from current Edge Stable, so the page may show no matching result.
Can I disable rounded corners from Edge Settings?
No. Current Edge does not provide a supported Settings control for disabling the rounded content frame.
Does the Windows command-line switch always remove rounded corners?
No. --enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin is an unofficial workaround with inconsistent results. It can also be bypassed by an already-running Edge process.
Why does the shortcut workaround require Startup boost to be disabled?
Startup boost can leave Edge running in the background. If an existing process is reused, Edge may not start with the switch from the edited shortcut.
How do I return to rounded corners after using the workaround?

The Bottom Line
Current Edge Stable does not offer a supported way to enable or disable rounded corners. The old Microsoft Edge rounded corners flag and the related Appearance setting describe older builds. On Windows, you can try --enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin from an edited shortcut after disabling Startup boost and closing all Edge processes, but treat it as an unsupported, version-dependent workaround rather than a permanent setting.
