The failure may be caused by a Canva outage, the wrong sign-in provider, an unsupported browser, blocked cookies, missing SMS delivery, or an organization’s SSO policy. Work through the checks below in order so you do not accidentally change the wrong account.

1. Check Canva’s service status
Before resetting anything, open Canva Status. Check the component named “Login and signup.” If it shows an incident, the problem is on Canva’s side and changing your password or deleting browser data will not repair it.
If no incident is listed but you still receive an error, Canva Status directs users to the Help Center. Save the exact error message and the approximate time it occurred before contacting support.
2. Sign in with the method used to create the account
Canva accounts do not all use the same login route. If you originally selected a third-party connection, use that provider’s button again instead of entering a Canva password. Canva’s privacy policy identifies third-party login connections, including Facebook Connect.

- Open Canva’s login page.
- Choose the same provider you used when registering, rather than selecting email and entering a guessed password.
- Complete the provider’s own sign-in and approval screens.
This also applies to accounts created through another supported identity provider. If the account never had a separate Canva password, a password login may fail even though the account itself is still valid.
3. Reset the password through Canva’s official recovery page
If the account really uses a Canva password, use Canva’s recovery page: https://www.canva.com/help/reset-password/. Repeated guesses can waste time and may lead you to reset the wrong account.
- Open the recovery page in a supported, updated browser.
- Enter the email address associated with the Canva account.
- Check the inbox and spam or junk folders for the recovery message.
- Open the message and create a new password through Canva’s link.
- Return to Canva and sign in with that email address and the new password.
If you do not receive an email, confirm that you entered the address used for Canva—not merely an address you currently use—and try the original third-party login method from step 2.
4. Update the browser or use a supported one
If Canva displays “Please update your browser,” treat it as a compatibility problem, not as proof that your password is wrong. Canva’s recovery page specifically names Chrome, Firefox, Safari (macOS only), and Edge as supported browser options. On a phone, Canva also provides links to its Android and iOS apps.

- Update your current browser through its built-in About or Settings page.
- Restart the browser after the update.
- Open Canva’s login or recovery page again.
- If the warning remains, try a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari on macOS.
Do not assume that Safari is supported on every platform based on this warning; Canva’s page specifies Safari for macOS.
5. Allow cookies and temporarily relax privacy blocking
Canva says cookies help recognize the browser, speed up login, remember preferences, and support navigation. It also warns that disabling cookies can prevent some service features from working correctly. Blocked cookies can therefore cause a correct login to loop back to the sign-in page.
- Exit private or incognito browsing.
- Open the browser’s privacy or site-settings controls.
- Allow cookies for Canva, at least while signing in.
- Temporarily disable an aggressive tracking-protection or content-blocking extension for the Canva site.
- Reload Canva and try the login again.
If this fixes the problem, re-enable extensions one at a time to identify the setting responsible. Avoid clearing all browser data first; it removes unrelated saved sessions and preferences. Clear Canva’s site data only if the login loop continues after cookies are allowed.
6. Handle a missing SMS verification code
A missing text does not automatically mean that your password or phone number is wrong. Canva’s SMS terms describe these messages as one-time verification codes (OTPs) and acknowledge that carriers can delay or fail to deliver them.

- Wait briefly, then request one new code rather than repeatedly tapping resend.
- Use only the newest code if several messages arrive; older codes may no longer be valid.
- Check that the phone has signal and can receive ordinary SMS messages.
- Check for carrier filtering, blocked short codes, roaming restrictions, or a full message inbox.
- Try the email login or recovery route if Canva offers it.
Never give the OTP to another person. Canva states that it will not request the code by phone. If texts remain undelivered, contact your carrier or use Canva’s supported recovery process instead of treating the missing message as a password failure.
7. Switch from SMS login to email when you can access the account
Canva’s SMS terms say that users can switch their login method to email by adding an email address in account settings. The related Canva help page is https://www.canva.com/help/change-email/.
- Sign in using any working, supported method.
- Open your Canva account settings.
- Add or change the account email address using Canva’s verification process.
- Confirm the email address, then use email for future login or recovery.
This is not a bypass for an account that cannot be verified. If you cannot access the account and cannot complete a supported recovery route, adding an email in settings is not available; use Canva Help instead.
8. Check SSO and MFA for work, school, or enterprise accounts
A company or school account may not be controlled by a normal Canva password. Canva documents support for Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), including SSO integrations with identity providers using SAML.

- Use your organization’s Canva sign-in link or the SSO option provided by your administrator.
- Authenticate through the organization’s identity provider, such as its company login portal.
- Complete the required MFA step, including an authenticator or other approved method.
- If access is denied, ask the organization’s IT administrator to check your account, domain assignment, SSO configuration, and MFA policy.
A Canva password reset will not fix an identity-provider outage, a disabled work account, a domain restriction, or an administrator policy. Personal Canva accounts and organization-managed accounts can also use different authentication routes, so confirm which account you are trying to open.
When to contact Canva
Contact Canva through its Help Center after checking the service status and trying the relevant recovery route. Include the email address or sign-in provider you use, the exact error text, your browser and device, whether the issue affects another browser, and whether SMS or email recovery messages arrive. Do not include your password or one-time verification code.

Why can’t I log in to Canva even with the correct password?
You may be using the wrong authentication method, have blocked cookies, be using an unsupported browser, or be signing into an organization account controlled by SSO or MFA. Check Canva Status first, then try the original provider used to create the account.
What should I do if Canva does not send the verification code?
Request one new OTP, check phone signal and carrier filtering, and wait for possible delivery delays. Use email recovery if Canva offers it. Never share the code; Canva says it will not request an OTP by phone.

Can I change Canva SMS login to email?
Yes, when you can access the account. Add an email address in Canva account settings and complete the verification process. This is not a way to bypass verification when you are locked out.
Does Canva work in Safari?
Canva’s current browser warning names Safari on macOS, along with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. It does not state that Safari is supported across all platforms on that page.
Will resetting my Canva password fix a work-account login?
Not necessarily. Work, school, and enterprise accounts may use SSO and MFA, so the identity provider or administrator may control access instead of a Canva password.

Start with Canva Status, then use the authentication method tied to the account. After that, update the browser, allow cookies, use Canva’s official password-recovery page, and treat missing SMS codes as a delivery issue. For company or school accounts, go through SSO and your administrator rather than repeatedly resetting a Canva password.
