Apple A19 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 cannot be ranked fairly from the available benchmark figures: the A19 scores cited here come from an iPhone 17 review, while no reliable, directly comparable Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 result is established. Qualcomm does publish platform specifications and improvements over its previous generation, but those claims are not A19-versus-Snapdragon test results.
Apple A19 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 4: specification comparison
| Category | Apple A19 evidence | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 evidence |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Tom’s Guide describes the iPhone 17 as having a six-core CPU. | Qualcomm lists a 64-bit Kryo CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.8 GHz. |
| Graphics | The cited iPhone 17 review reports a five-core GPU and a phone-level graphics test result. | Qualcomm identifies an Adreno GPU. |
| AI | A comparable A19 AI result is not established in the cited evidence. | Qualcomm claims a 65% AI performance improvement over the preceding Snapdragon generation. |
| Connectivity | The cited review excerpt does not document connectivity specifications. | Qualcomm lists 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. |
These details describe different kinds of evidence: an iPhone review provides information about a complete device, while Qualcomm’s platform page lists Snapdragon features. Clock speed and core count alone do not establish which chip is faster. A handset’s design and software also influence its performance and connectivity experience.
What the benchmark figures show—and don’t show
Tom’s Guide reports Geekbench 6 averages of 3,701 for single-core and 9,460 for multi-core performance in its iPhone 17 review. These are scores for that reviewed phone and its test setup, not a universal A19 score. They should not be compared with results from a different Geekbench version or a different handset as if the conditions were matched.
Geekbench says its mobile chart is based on user-submitted results. Scores can vary with the phone and testing conditions. The available evidence does not establish a reliable Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 score that can be compared directly with the iPhone 17 figures, so it does not support declaring either chip the benchmark winner.

How to interpret Qualcomm’s performance claims
Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 on May 15, 2025, reporting a 27% CPU performance improvement, 30% faster GPU graphics rendering, and 65% AI performance improvement over the preceding generation. These are Qualcomm’s vendor-reported generational comparisons—not measured advantages over Apple A19. The percentages do not provide a direct cross-platform ranking.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose between actual phones, not chip names in isolation. The A19 evidence here is tied to the iPhone 17; Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 appears in Android-phone platforms, but the available sources do not establish specific current models or regional stock. Qualcomm’s May 2025 launch announcement said HONOR, vivo, and realme were expected to announce phones using the platform; that dated expectation is not confirmation of a particular model’s present availability.

- Compare the phones’ prices and availability where you live.
- Decide whether you prefer iOS or Android and consider the apps and services you rely on.
- For demanding games or sustained workloads, look for testing of the specific handset, including longer-duration performance and heat behavior.
- Compare battery behavior and graphics performance in reviews of the exact models you are considering.
- Check the handset’s regional connectivity specifications rather than assuming every feature listed for a platform is implemented in every phone.
The evidence here does not establish matched phone prices, long-duration thermal results, or a device-specific Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 benchmark. Those gaps make a model-to-model comparison more useful than a chip-only verdict.
