Google Tensor G3 is the system-on-chip in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, built around a mix of CPU, graphics, imaging, security, and on-device AI hardware. In Geekbench Browser’s rolling chart of user-submitted Pixel 8 results, the listed Geekbench 6 scores are 1,310 single-core and 3,467 multi-core; those figures are useful reference points, not controlled tests or a guarantee of how every Tensor G3 device performs.
What is Google Tensor G3?
Tensor G3 is Google’s third-generation Tensor chip, announced on October 4, 2023, for the Pixel 8 generation. It is not sold as a standalone consumer processor: it powers the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google describes the chip as having a latest-generation ARM CPU, upgraded GPU, new image signal processor (ISP) and Imaging DSP, and a next-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) designed for Google’s AI models. Google’s announcement does not give a complete specification table or benchmark results.
Tensor G3 specifications
The detailed CPU and GPU configuration below comes from independent technical references, rather than Google’s launch announcement. Treat the clock figures as reported maximum cluster clocks, not a promise that the chip runs at those speeds continuously.

How fast is Tensor G3 in the Pixel 8?
Geekbench Browser’s Google Pixel 8 chart listed the following Geekbench 6 results when accessed on October 7, 2026. The chart gathers user-submitted results, so its figures can change as submissions are added.

These are Pixel 8 submissions, not a universal Tensor G3 score: phone configuration, software, and individual test conditions can vary. They do not establish sustained speed, thermals, battery life, or the performance of every Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro. Google frames Tensor as a way to advance mobile computing rather than optimize only for conventional speed metrics. In its Pixel 8 announcement, Google connects the chip and Pixel system with on-device machine learning, speech and natural-language understanding, text-to-speech, Live HDR video, computational photography, Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser, and security features. Those are Google’s descriptions of product capabilities, not results demonstrated by the Geekbench scores above.

Google also says Pixel 8 Face Unlock meets Android’s strongest biometric class and can be used for banking app sign-in and Google Wallet. That is Google’s Pixel 8 product claim, not an independently tested property of the chip alone.

How to interpret Tensor G3 benchmark comparisons
- Compare the same Geekbench version and test type; do not mix Geekbench 6 results with the separately listed Geekbench 7 calibrations.
- Check that the results come from comparable devices and software conditions. The figures above come from Pixel 8 submissions, not a controlled cross-device test.
- Do not treat a peak benchmark score as sustained performance. The chart does not report thermal behavior, battery life, or long-duration performance.
- For a broader product comparison, consider AI features, camera processing, efficiency, thermals, and software support separately. The benchmark chart does not measure those experiences.
