Yes—Apple’s A19 is ahead of the A15 Bionic in the published Geekbench results available here. The chart lists iPhone 17 with A19 at 2,995 single-core and 8,280 multi-core, compared with iPhone 13 Pro Max with A15 Bionic at 2,113 and 5,473. That works out to roughly 42% higher single-core and 51% higher multi-core scores for those phone models, not a guaranteed chip-only advantage in every task.
Geekbench scores: iPhone 17 vs iPhone 13 Pro Max
Geekbench’s iOS chart reports these results for the two representative devices:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |

| Phone and chip | Single-core | Multi-core |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 with A19 | 2,995 | 8,280 |
| iPhone 13 Pro Max with A15 Bionic | 2,113 | 5,473 |
On those displayed scores, the iPhone 17 result is about 1.42 times as high in single-core and 1.51 times in multi-core. Geekbench says higher scores are better and that double the score indicates double the performance. The chart aggregates user-submitted results, requires at least five unique results for each listed device, and changes as submissions arrive; its scores are not a controlled processor swap. See Geekbench’s iOS benchmark chart.
The comparison therefore supports a clear conclusion about these chart entries, but not a promise that every app will run 42% or 51% faster. Results include the complete phone and depend on the workload and device conditions. Geekbench scores also do not establish game frame rates, long-duration performance under heat, battery life, or app-specific responsiveness.

How the A19 and A15 specifications differ
| Specification | A19 in iPhone 17 | A15 Bionic in Apple-listed phones |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Six cores: two performance and four efficiency cores | Six-core CPU |
| GPU | Five cores with Neural Accelerators | Four or five cores, depending on the phone |
| Neural Engine | 16 cores | 16 cores in the listed A15 devices |
| Hardware-accelerated ray tracing | Listed by Apple | Not listed in the reviewed Apple comparison |
Apple’s specifications show that the A15 is not one identical GPU configuration across every iPhone: some A15 models have four GPU cores and others five. The A19 specification for iPhone 17 lists five GPU cores, Neural Accelerators, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. These are documented feature differences, not a complete measure of graphics performance in a particular game. Apple’s iPhone 17 technical specifications and Apple’s iPhone comparison list the respective configurations.
What the Neural Engine core count does—and does not—show
Apple lists a 16-core Neural Engine for both generations in the reviewed device specifications. Equal core counts do not establish equal AI throughput: the cited specifications provide no direct measured Neural Engine speed comparison. For an AI feature or app, performance depends on its implementation and the phone as a whole; these core counts alone cannot predict how quickly it will run.

Which comparison to use for a buying decision
Choose by the actual phone and workload
The A19 is the stronger choice on the cited Geekbench CPU results, and its listed feature set is newer. But the chart does not settle whether changing phones is worthwhile for your use. Consider the specific model, the apps or games you care about, battery condition, software support, price, and availability—not just the processor name.
Keep the A15 model in view
The benchmark comparison uses iPhone 13 Pro Max, while Apple’s model comparison covers multiple A15 phones with different GPU core counts. Do not assume that this A15 result represents every A15 iPhone, particularly for graphics-related comparisons.
Rank #3
- 6.1‑inch (diagonal) all‑screen OLED display
Why other benchmark figures should not be mixed in
A 91mobiles comparison page reports separate AnTuTu and Geekbench figures for A19 and A15 Bionic, but the reviewed page does not adequately specify benchmark version, test-device conditions, or methodology. Those values are not directly equivalent to Geekbench’s live device chart and should not be combined with it as if they came from one controlled test. The source also reports 3 nm for A19 and 5 nm for A15; because it does not detail the process-claim provenance, those figures are less firmly grounded than Apple’s device specifications. See the 91mobiles comparison.
