Signing out of a streaming app on a shared TV ends that TV’s signed-in access; it does not, by itself, mean your profile or its watch history has been deleted. Those are separate account controls, and the exact behavior depends on the streaming service. On Netflix, for example, device sign-out and profile viewing activity are managed separately.
What signing out changes—and what it doesn’t
Signing out removes the app’s active session from that TV. Someone using the TV afterward should no longer be able to stream through your signed-in session unless they sign back in. Signing out is not the same as deleting your streaming account, deleting a profile, or erasing that profile’s viewing activity. Netflix provides separate controls for signing out devices and viewing profile activity, illustrating the distinction.
Do not assume every service handles every kind of saved data identically. A title’s availability, recommendations, watch progress, and viewing history may be governed by separate service-specific rules. Check the help page for the app and country in question before expecting particular data to disappear.
How to sign out a shared TV
If you can use the TV
Open the streaming app and look in its profile, account, or settings menu for a sign-out option. Menu names and locations vary by app and TV platform. Choose sign out rather than delete profile if your aim is only to remove your access from that device.

If you no longer have the TV
Use the streaming service’s official website or mobile account settings to review devices and revoke access, if the service offers remote sign-out. On Netflix, open Manage Access and Devices, select the relevant device, and choose Sign Out. The same page offers Sign Out of All Devices; use that broader option only if you intend to end access across devices.
Netflix says a device can take up to 48 hours to appear in Manage Access and Devices, and the list may not include every device. Some devices may be omitted if they have been inactive for 90 days or were used only for Netflix games or Tudum. So, an absent device is not proof that it was never signed in or that the list is exhaustive.

How to check whether a show is in your Netflix history
Netflix lets you inspect viewing activity separately from device sign-out. In a web browser, open Account, go to Profiles, select the relevant profile, then choose Viewing activity. Netflix also provides Show More and Download all options on that page. Use the profile that was active on the TV: viewing activity is presented per profile, not as a single undifferentiated device list.

If you want to alter or remove activity, consult Netflix’s current viewing-activity controls rather than assuming sign-out did it.

Why the answer varies by service and region
Disney+
Disney+ guidance describes account-level device management, including viewing or logging out devices from the Account page. Its profiles guidance says profiles keep track of favorite shows and movies and use watch history for recommendations. Because the available official information does not establish a precise current menu sequence or every effect of sign-out, check Disney+’s current account help before relying on a particular path or assuming what happens to all saved data.
Prime Video
Device limits and removal rules can vary by membership and country. Prime Video’s cited device-limit guidance applies to India: it describes different limits by membership and says that, under that policy, up to two devices may be removed within a 30-day period. This is not a worldwide Prime Video rule. Check the policy for your location and membership before removing devices.

If you’re concerned someone else used the account
Start by checking the relevant profile’s viewing activity where the service provides it, then revoke access to the TV or other unfamiliar devices using the service’s official account controls. If access continues or appears unauthorized, follow that service’s account-security guidance. A device sign-out should not be treated as a password change or as confirmation that every other session has ended unless the service specifically says so.
