Yes. You can record workouts with Wahoo on a supported Apple Watch without paying. Wahoo’s free tier covers workout recording, device connectivity and app integrations. Core adds deeper fitness metrics and training analysis; Pro adds recommended workouts, structured plans and access to Wahoo SYSTM. Wahoo’s plan pages describe membership features across its app ecosystem, but they do not clearly map every paid feature to the Apple Watch app itself.
Can I record a workout on Apple Watch without paying?
Yes. Wahoo advertises Apple Watch workout recording and provides a free tier with core functions such as recording, connecting compatible devices and syncing through app integrations. You do not need to subscribe just to use Wahoo as a workout recorder.

Its regional app page describes limited access to advanced fitness metrics and a subset of free structured workouts. Exact feature wording can vary by Wahoo page and region, so check the plan description shown for your country and account.

Wahoo’s pages use different wording for the free tier: some describe it as Free, while others refer to Base. The practical distinction is whether you need basic recording and connectivity, deeper self-guided analysis, or prescribed training and the broader SYSTM library.

Which tier do I need?
- Choose Free / Base if you mainly want to record activities, connect devices and sync workouts.
- Consider Core if you want deeper fitness metrics, training-load information, performance analytics and trends, but plan your own training.
- Consider Pro if you want daily recommendations, structured training plans or unlimited access to Wahoo SYSTM content.
If your deciding factor is a particular Apple Watch feature, verify it in Wahoo’s watch-specific documentation before subscribing. The plan pages describe membership benefits broadly; the watch pages do not assign every Core or Pro entitlement to the watch app.

Wahoo’s Apple Watch app supports planned workout profiles for indoor and outdoor cycling, indoor and outdoor running, strength, and swimming. During recording, workout pages can show up to six data fields. The watch provides a condensed workout view; Wahoo describes the phone app as the place to review full activity history. If a workout has not synced, it remains visible from the watch account page until the phone reconnects.

Wahoo’s support overview lists watchOS 11 and iOS 18.0 or later as minimum requirements. It says compatible hardware includes Apple Watch Series 6 and newer, plus all Apple Watch Ultra versions. Requirements can change, so check the current Apple Watch overview before installing.

Do paid Wahoo features unlock on the watch?
Wahoo’s membership pages explain the benefits of Free/Base, Core and Pro across its app offering, while its Apple Watch support pages explain recording, supported workout types and the watch-to-phone workflow. Those sources do not provide a feature-by-feature map showing which Core or Pro tools appear or work directly on Apple Watch. Do not assume that subscribing unlocks a specific watch-screen feature; check with Wahoo for the exact capability you need.
