The Airbus A350-900, including its ultra-long-range configuration, has the highest maximum range figure among these six passenger jets: Airbus lists up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km). That figure applies to the A350-900 family page, which includes ULR variants; it is not a like-for-like test against the other aircraft. The models below are notable long-range examples, not a standardized global ranking.
How to read aircraft range figures
Maximum range is a manufacturer-published capability, not a promise that an airline can fly that distance on every trip. Actual range depends on the aircraft variant, passenger and cargo payload, cabin configuration, fuel reserves, weather, routing and other operating conditions. The figures here come from manufacturers’ pages or announcements published at different times and under different assumptions.
Seat counts and layouts also differ. Boeing’s 777 specifications give ranges of seats in a two-class layout, while Airbus provides a standard three-class passenger figure for the A350-900 and a classic three-class assumption for the A350-1000 figure cited below. Treat each number in its stated context rather than comparing the aircraft as if they carried an identical load.

| Aircraft | Manufacturer-published maximum range | Configuration or seating context | Status and context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airbus A350-900 / A350-900ULR | Up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km) on Airbus’s A350-900 product page | 332–352 passengers in Airbus’s standard three-class configuration | The A350-900 is offered in regional, classic and ULR weight variants. The ULR was developed for very long nonstop routes. |
| Airbus A350-1000 | Up to 9,100 nautical miles | Airbus’s July 2026 figure is for a classic three-class configuration | A distinct model from the A350-900; Airbus separately reported an A350-1000ULR test aircraft’s first flight in June 2026. |
| Boeing 777-200LR | Up to 8,500 nautical miles on Boeing’s current product page | 300–375 seats in a two-class layout | Boeing’s 2005 unveiling announcement made a separate historical claim of 9,420 nautical miles with 301 passengers; its assumptions differ from the current page’s figure. |
| Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner | Up to 8,300 nautical miles | Boeing’s current family table lists the maximum range; a seat configuration is not stated there. | Current Boeing family specification. |
| Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner | Up to 8,000 nautical miles | Boeing’s current family table lists the maximum range; a seat configuration is not stated there. | Current Boeing family specification. |
| Boeing 777-300ER | Up to 7,500 nautical miles | 350–425 seats in a two-class layout | Current Boeing 777 specification. |

What makes the A350-900’s range figure tricky
Airbus’s A350-900 product page lists up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km) and says the aircraft is available in regional, classic and ULR weight variants. That family-level maximum includes the ultra-long-range configuration; it should not be presented as the capability of every A350-900 in every configuration.
Airbus’s July 2026 account gives a different A350-900 figure: 8,600 nautical miles. The two numbers refer to different contexts, and the higher product-page figure includes the ULR variant. For a specific aircraft or route, the variant and operating configuration matter more than treating one number as universal.

From published capability to a real nonstop route
A range specification describes aircraft capability; a route distance describes a particular journey. Airbus reported in 2018 that Singapore Airlines introduced its A350-900ULR on Singapore–New York, a route it described as nearly 9,000 nautical miles. This is a documented example of the ULR’s intended use, not proof that the route’s current schedule or aircraft assignment remains the same.

The A350-1000ULR is still a developing variant
Airbus reported in June 2026 that an A350-1000ULR test aircraft had made its first flight and linked the development to Qantas Project Sunrise. That establishes a development milestone, not scheduled passenger service: the Airbus source does not state a service-entry date. See Airbus’s June 2026 first-flight announcement.

Boeing’s current 777 product page lists up to 8,500 nautical miles for the 777-200LR, alongside a two-class capacity of 300–375 seats. At the aircraft’s 2005 unveiling, Boeing announced a range of 9,420 nautical miles with 301 passengers. Those are claims from different sources and dates, with different stated passenger assumptions. The current product-page figure is the appropriate one for a present-day model comparison; the older announcement is historical context, not an interchangeable second specification.
