The base Google Pixel 10 is a stronger all-around camera phone than its price tier might suggest, thanks to a dedicated 5x optical telephoto camera, a bright 6.3-inch display, Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, and seven years of software updates. Its main compromises are less impressive battery-test results than some rivals, slowdowns in demanding games reported by one reviewer, and AI features whose availability varies by language and market.

What are the Pixel 10’s biggest advantages?
A useful 5x optical telephoto at the base tier
Google’s specifications list a 48 MP wide camera, a 13 MP ultrawide, and a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. A dedicated telephoto lens gives you a practical way to frame distant subjects without relying entirely on digital cropping. Tom’s Guide also described the telephoto as making the phone a more capable all-around camera.
Google lists Super Zoom up to 20x on the Pixel 10. That is not the same as 20x optical zoom: the phone’s dedicated optical telephoto is 5x. Pro Res Zoom up to 100x is a separate feature Google lists for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL, not the base model. See Google’s Pixel 10 specifications and Google’s Pixel 10 launch announcement.
A bright, smooth compact display
The Pixel 10 has a 6.3-inch OLED Actua display with a 60–120 Hz refresh rate. Google lists HDR brightness up to 2,000 nits and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits. Tom’s Guide measured a peak of 2,333 nits in its 2025 review. Those figures come from different sources and should not be treated as directly interchangeable measurements.

Qi2 magnetic charging and accessory support
Google specifies Qi2-certified Pixelsnap wireless charging up to 15 W. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer reported using Pixelsnap accessories and some MagSafe accessories with the phone. That is useful evidence of compatibility, but it is not a guarantee that every third-party magnetic accessory will align or work equally well.
Seven years of updates
Google lists seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates for the Pixel 10, which launched with Android 16. This commitment is valuable if you plan to keep a phone for several years. Google’s specifications state the duration, but do not use that alone to infer a specific support end date.

Useful camera tools and on-device AI features
Google lists camera features including Camera Coach, Add Me, Macro Focus, Auto Best Take, and Night Sight, alongside Ask Photos editing features. The phone runs Google Tensor G5 and supports features including Gemini Nano, Gemini Live, Magic Cue, Circle to Search, Live Translate, and Call Assist. Google describes Voice Translate for English paired with specified languages. These are a collection of software capabilities, not proof that every AI task will be better or that every feature is available to every user. Battery life depends on settings and workload
Google lists a typical 4,970 mAh battery capacity, a minimum capacity of 4,835 mAh, and 24+ hours of battery life. In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 battery-drain test, the Pixel 10 lasted 13 hours 13 minutes with Smooth Display off and 12 hours 25 minutes with it on. Those are review test results, not a prediction for every owner; actual use varies with settings and workload. Demanding games may expose performance limits
TechRadar reported slowdowns in intensive games when settings were maxed out. Its reviewer noted that people who do not play demanding games may not notice the issue in everyday use. Treat this as a limitation observed in a specific, intensive workload, not as evidence that routine operation is slow for everyone. See TechRadar’s Pixel 10 review.
Fast wired charging has a condition
Google says the phone can reach up to 55% charge in about 30 minutes when used with a 30 W USB-C PPS charger or higher; that charger is sold separately. Tom’s Guide measured 52% after 30 minutes in its review test. Charging results depend on the test conditions and charger, so the manufacturer estimate and reviewer result are best kept distinct. How does the Pixel 10 compare with the Pro models?
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL cost more at launch and add Pro Res Zoom up to 100x. Google’s 2025 launch prices were $799 for the Pixel 10, $999 for the Pixel 10 Pro, and $1,199 for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. These are historical US launch prices, not current offers. The base Pixel 10 is the more straightforward choice if its 5x optical reach meets your needs; consider a Pro model if you specifically want the Pro-exclusive zoom capability. Should you buy a Google Pixel 10?
Choose the Pixel 10 if you want a compact flagship with a genuine 5x optical telephoto, a bright high-refresh display, magnetic Qi2 charging, and a long update commitment. Think carefully if your top priorities are the longest battery life, sustained performance in demanding games, or the Pro models’ 100x Pro Res Zoom.

Prices change over time. Tom’s Guide reported US launch pricing of $799 for the base model and $899 for 256 GB in 2025; Google’s product page showed a $649 promotion against $799 at the time reflected in the supplied pricing information.
