Check the lot where the drone was last used and the owning Sim’s personal inventory. If it was sent out to record, return to that area and look nearby: players have reported drones failing to return, disappearing during use, or being left behind when a Sim travels. There is no guaranteed recovery method in the available guidance, but the steps below cover the most likely places to check and what to try if you can see the drone.
Where to look first
- Pause and search the active lot. Inspect the spot where the drone was last used, including nearby ground and surrounding areas where it may have landed.
- Check the owning Sim’s personal inventory. The drone may have returned there even if it is no longer visible in the world.
- Revisit the lot where it was sent to record. Look around the place it was launched from and the surrounding area. EA Forums players have described drones that did not return after recording or were left behind when travelling home; these are individual reports, not proof that this happens in every game. If you can see the drone
Click it to see which interactions are available. If it is accessible in the world, try having the Sim who owns it drag it into their personal inventory. This is a community-suggested workaround, not an official guarantee: an EA Forums reply says it may fail if the drone has become disconnected from its owner. EA Forums: “Drone Glitch Sims 4”

If it is stuck, floating, or out of reach, the available forum discussion does not establish a reliable reset, spell, or command that will recover it. One spellcaster suggestion in that discussion was explicitly a guess, so treat it as speculation rather than a fix.

#1 Best Overall
- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
Consider an earlier save carefully
If you want to restore a save from before the drone disappeared, make a backup of your current save first, then follow EA’s past-saved-game recovery guidance linked from its Sims 4 support page. Restoring an earlier save can also undo other progress made since that save.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the available guidance does—and does not—establish
The forum discussions identify the drone as an item from The Sims 4: Get Famous, but buying the expansion is not a recovery method for a drone already lost in a save. The cited sources do not confirm a universal drone tracker or recall feature, and they do not establish a guaranteed way to recover an object that has vanished.
