Yes, Namecheap shared hosting can be worth it for modest personal sites and small projects—but the right tier depends on how many sites and files you need to host, and whether you need included automated backups. Stellar offers 20 GB of SSD storage for up to three hosted domains; Stellar Plus adds unmetered SSD storage and unlimited hosted domains; Stellar Business offers 50 GB and unlimited hosted domains. Compare the full price for your chosen billing term and renewal, not just the “cheap” headline.

What do the three Namecheap Stellar plans include?

Namecheap’s current shared-hosting lineup is Stellar, Stellar Plus, and Stellar Business. The company says these plans replaced its older Value, Professional/Ultimate, and Business SSD offerings. The limits below are vendor-published specifications, not independent test results. See Namecheap’s Shared Hosting plans comparison and its shared-hosting plan page.

Plan Listed SSD storage Hosted domains Listed inode limit Backup provision
Stellar 20 GB 3 300,000 Internal backups ideally twice a week; not guaranteed
Stellar Plus Unmetered Unlimited 300,000 Twice-weekly backups plus AutoBackup access for daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Stellar Business 50 GB Unlimited 600,000 Twice-weekly backups plus AutoBackup access for daily, weekly, and monthly backups

“Unmetered” storage does not mean unlimited capacity in every respect: Stellar Plus still has a listed 300,000 inode limit. Inodes count files and directories, so a site with many small files can run into a file-count ceiling even when its storage usage is relatively low.

How much does Namecheap shared hosting cost?

Namecheap’s comparison page lists regular monthly rates of $5.88 for Stellar, $7.88 for Stellar Plus, and $11.88 for Stellar Business. It also lists annual and two-year billing totals. The displayed amount depends on the selected billing term, and promotions, location, currency, and renewal terms can change what appears at checkout. Check the live cart for the price and renewal quote in your region; do not compare a monthly regular rate with a promotional multi-year total as if they covered the same period.

The monthly, yearly, and bi-yearly options are shown on Namecheap’s shared-hosting page. Its comparison page was updated August 17, 2026; plan details and prices can change.

Which Namecheap Stellar plan should you choose?

Choose Stellar for a small site or a few modest sites

Stellar may suit a personal website or small project that fits within 20 GB of SSD storage and needs no more than three hosted domains. Its main compromise is backup certainty: Namecheap says internal backups for Stellar customers are ideally performed twice weekly, but are not guaranteed. If losing recent changes would be costly, keep an independent backup rather than relying on this provision.

Consider Stellar Plus for multiple sites or included AutoBackup

Stellar Plus offers unlimited hosted domains and unmetered SSD storage, with a 300,000 inode limit. It also includes AutoBackup through cPanel, with daily, weekly, and monthly backups available, in addition to the twice-weekly backups listed by Namecheap. The extra backup access and domain allowance may matter more than the storage label if you manage several small sites.

Consider Stellar Business for more storage or a higher inode limit

Stellar Business lists 50 GB of SSD storage and a 600,000 inode limit, with unlimited hosted domains and the same stated AutoBackup schedule as Stellar Plus. The plan name alone does not establish business-grade performance or make it suitable for every commercial workload; assess the limits and your recovery needs against your actual site.

What are the main trade-offs?

Shared resources do not guarantee a particular site speed

Shared hosting puts multiple customers on a hosting environment. A feature list cannot establish how fast a particular site will be, especially under load. TechRadar’s May 11, 2026 review provides independent context and describes its own tests, but those results should not be treated as a guarantee of your site’s performance. For demanding applications or consistently high traffic, compare more powerful or managed hosting using measured results with a clearly stated test method.

Backups are not a substitute for your own recovery plan

The distinction between Stellar’s non-guaranteed internal backups and the AutoBackup access listed for Plus and Business is material if you need to restore a site. Confirm which backup points are available and how restoration works for your account, and maintain copies you control if recovery requirements are strict.

The uptime figure is a guarantee, not a measured result

Namecheap lists 100% uptime for its shared plans. That is the provider’s published guarantee, not evidence that customers experience no outages. TechRadar explains the guarantee as one day of hosting credit per hour of unscheduled downtime, up to a month of hosting credit, and discusses the threshold for compensation. Credits are a remedy under the guarantee, not a substitute for availability monitoring or a promise of uninterrupted service. See TechRadar’s Namecheap hosting review for its explanation.

Is Namecheap shared hosting worth it?

Namecheap is worth considering when your needs fit the selected plan’s storage, domain, and inode limits and the checkout price for your billing term works for you. Stellar is the entry point for up to three modest sites; Plus is the more relevant tier if you want unlimited hosted domains and listed AutoBackup access; Business raises the storage and inode ceilings. If availability, recovery, or performance is critical, do not choose on price or the 100% guarantee alone—compare hosting options against your requirements and keep your own backups.
