There is no single light switch that works on every iBUYPOWER PC. If your system came with an RGB remote, try its On/Off button first. Otherwise, check for a case or fan lighting button, then use the software that matches your motherboard or lighting component. Lights that remain on after shutdown are a separate issue and may require a motherboard setting.

Choose the control that matches your PC

Control When to use it What to try
Included RGB remote Your PC has a remote-controlled lighting controller. Press On/Off. If the remote has an M/B Hold 3s control, it switches between remote and motherboard control. Use it only if your PC supports motherboard control; otherwise, the lights may stay off until you switch back to remote control. See the iBUYPOWER RGB Quick Start Guide.
Case or fan button/controller Your case or lighting hardware has a manual control. Look for a lighting button on the case or its controller. Its location and operation vary by system; iBUYPOWER notes that some case and fan lighting uses manual controls. See its RGB Guide.
Motherboard RGB software The lighting is connected to, or managed through, the motherboard. Identify the motherboard and choose its matching RGB software. One program may not control every lighting component.
Component-specific software A fan, cooler, light strip, or case uses its own lighting ecosystem. Identify the component brand and check iBUYPOWER’s RGB Hub for a control route.

Find the right RGB software

Identify your motherboard in Windows

  1. Press Windows+R to open Run.
  2. Enter msinfo32 and press Enter.
  3. In System Information, note Baseboard Manufacturer and Baseboard Product.
  4. Use those details to find the motherboard guidance in iBUYPOWER’s RGB Hub.

The Hub lists ASRock Polychrome, ASUS Armoury Crate, Gigabyte Control Center, and MSI Center under motherboard/video card guidance, as well as other control routes for lighting components. Follow the guidance for your specific hardware rather than assuming one application controls the entire PC. The Hub says SignalRGB or OpenRGB may work with compatible hardware, but iBUYPOWER does not guarantee compatibility with every RGB product.

Why lights may remain on after shutdown

First distinguish lights that are on while Windows is running from lights that stay powered after shutdown or sleep. iBUYPOWER documents two relevant BIOS options for certain ASRock motherboards: Turn On Onboard LED in S5 controls onboard header LEDs in the S5 shutdown state, while Deep Sleep affects power behavior across S4/S5 states and can deactivate some powered accessories. These names and instructions are specific to the ASRock boards described in iBUYPOWER’s Troubleshooting 104: RGB Guide. For another motherboard, consult its manual or contact support rather than looking for identical menu labels.

When to check the hardware or contact support

If some lights work and others do not, a disconnected RGB cable may be involved. Do not open the case as a first step just to turn off working lights. If internal troubleshooting is necessary, iBUYPOWER says in its RGB Guide: “Always make sure the computer is completely off and unplugged while working inside of it.” If you are unsure which controller or cable your system uses, identify the PC and lighting hardware and contact iBUYPOWER Support before attempting internal changes or buying a replacement controller.
