To watch Amazon Prime Video on an iPad, install the Prime Video app from the App Store, then register or sign in with the Amazon account that has access to the title you want. You can stream eligible titles or download eligible movies and shows in the app for offline viewing.
Install Prime Video and sign in
- On your iPad, open the App Store and search for Prime Video.
- Download and install the app, then open it.
- Register the app or sign in with the Amazon account that has access to the title. Amazon’s registration steps vary by device and may use a QR code or an on-screen code. See Amazon’s device installation instructions.
Amazon lists iPad among its supported iOS devices. The precise iPadOS minimum and supported model list are not stated in the cited help information, so check the current App Store listing if you need to confirm compatibility for a particular iPad.
Find and stream a title
Browse or search in the app, open a title, and select play. Whether a title is included with a membership, available to rent or buy, or unavailable depends on the title, your account, and your market. Check the title page for its current access options rather than assuming every result is included.
Amazon describes iOS streaming as up to HD with stereo audio. Subtitles, audio description, profiles, live streaming, and channel support are also listed, but feature availability can vary by device model and configuration; some features require the latest Prime Video app. See Amazon’s supported-device information.

Download movies and shows for offline viewing
Prime Video’s iOS app supports downloads, but the option is not available for every title. To download a movie, open its detail page in the app and select the download control when it appears. For a TV series, Amazon documents downloading a whole season or choosing individual episodes from the episode list. See Amazon’s download instructions for mobile devices.
Downloads use iPad storage, so confirm that you have enough available space before downloading. To watch offline, open the Prime Video app and choose the downloaded title there.

Know the limits on travel and external displays
Watching while traveling
The titles you can stream may change when you are outside your home country. Amazon says compatible devices can download titles before travel for offline viewing. Check the title in the app and download it before you leave if you expect to watch without reliable internet. See Amazon’s travel guidance.
AirPlay and Chromecast
Amazon does not permit downloaded Prime Video content to play through AirPlay or Chromecast. This restriction applies to downloaded content; it does not establish that every form of streaming playback is blocked on every external-display setup. See Amazon’s help on watching downloaded titles.
