Hosting.com shared hosting is aimed at entry-level websites, blogs and small businesses that want web hosting and email without managing a server. Its advertised features include NVMe storage, LiteSpeed caching, SSL, malware protection and backups, but those are provider claims—not independently verified performance or security results. The plan comparison distinguishes tiers by website count, storage and selected inclusions; current prices and renewal rates need to be checked for your region and billing term.
What Hosting.com shared hosting is—and who it suits
With shared hosting, multiple customers’ websites use resources on the same server. Hosting.com describes this as an entry-level environment for websites and email and says sharing resources helps keep the price low. It can suit a new or modest site that does not need dedicated server resources. Because resources are shared, the plan’s stated capacity and your site’s actual demands matter more than a list of speed features alone.
Consider another hosting arrangement if your site has demanding workloads, needs guaranteed dedicated resources, or cannot tolerate the constraints of a shared environment. The available information does not establish a threshold at which a particular site should upgrade.
Speed: advertised features, not independent test results
Hosting.com markets shared hosting with NVMe storage, LiteSpeed caching and tuned database infrastructure. It also describes caching, load balancing and high-availability architecture as ways to improve loading and time to first byte. These are descriptions of the provider’s platform; they do not establish how quickly a specific customer site will load.
#1 Best Overall
No independent, reproducible benchmark tied to a named plan, test configuration, location and test period is available here. The provider’s “99.9% uptime SLA” is a stated service commitment, not evidence of observed uptime. If performance is central to your decision, seek measurements for the exact plan and region you would use, and check the SLA for what remedy it offers.
Plans: compare website limits, storage and inclusions
Hosting.com’s plan comparison lists these capacity differences. The figures below are the provider’s listed allocations; features and packages can change, so check the live comparison and checkout before buying.
Rank #2
| Tier shown in comparison | Websites | NVMe storage | Other listed distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lower tier | 5 | 15 GB | Not stated in the comparison details available here. |
| Next tier | 10 | 50 GB | Not stated in the comparison details available here. |
| Higher tier | 50 | 100 GB | 40 mailboxes and priority support. |
The comparison does not provide enough detail here to assign every email or backup limit to each tier. Before choosing, match the package against your number of sites and expected storage, then verify the email allowance, backup availability and any other feature you require on the current plan page.
Pricing: verify the checkout and renewal total
Hosting.com displays billing-period choices and introductory-offer language, but the available information does not establish current US prices for each tier or their renewal rates. Do not assume an advertised introductory amount is the recurring cost. At checkout, confirm the total for your geography and term, the renewal amount, domain eligibility, and whether the email and backup features you want are included at that tier.
Security and backups: understand what is advertised
Hosting.com advertises free SSL, malware protection and a web application firewall. It also describes daily backups stored off-server, with restoration to a point in the previous 30 days. These are provider-described inclusions, not independent audits of their effectiveness, and they do not guarantee that a site cannot be compromised or data cannot be lost.
Check the plan details for backup eligibility and restoration terms, and keep a separate copy of important site data if you need an independent recovery option.
Migration, support and room to grow
Hosting.com advertises free managed website migration and support by live chat, email and phone. It says customers can upgrade within its plan family and describes a route from shared hosting to a managed server. These are provider commitments; confirm the migration’s scope, eligibility and any limits with the provider before relying on them for a move.
Cancellation, automatic renewal and refunds
Hosting.com’s terms say accounts renew automatically. To stop a renewal, submit a cancellation through the customer panel at least one day before the next renewal term begins. Leave more time if you need to resolve an account-access or billing issue.
The provider advertises a 30-day money-back period for eligible products, but its terms impose conditions and exclusions. Domain-related fees and certain other expenses are non-refundable, and the guarantee is limited to the applicable first term. Read the terms governing your purchase before paying; do not treat the advertised period as an unconditional refund of every charge.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to decide whether it is a fit
- Check capacity: Choose based on your actual website count and storage needs, not only the number of features in a plan description.
- Check the full bill: Compare the checkout total and renewal amount for the same region and billing period.
- Verify critical inclusions: Confirm email, backups, migration scope and support access for the exact tier.
- Set realistic performance expectations: Treat NVMe, LiteSpeed and infrastructure descriptions as provider claims unless you can find tests for your plan and location.
- Read the applicable terms: Note the cancellation deadline and refund exclusions before committing.
For a comparison with another host, use the same geography and term, then compare checkout and renewal prices, site and storage limits, backup frequency and retention, security inclusions, migration and support, and the uptime commitment and its remedy. Marketing speed claims are not a substitute for comparable measurements.
