Plan on 25–35 hours to finish CONTROL Resonant’s main story. That’s Remedy Communications Director Thomas Puha’s estimate. Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov separately puts the core experience at around 30 hours and a completionist run at around 50 hours. The longer figure is an approximate ballpark, not a guaranteed time for 100% completion.
How long does CONTROL Resonant take to beat?
The best planning estimate for the main story is 25–35 hours. Puha gave that range in a September 15, 2026, PlayStation Blog post, adding that there is more to do for completionists.
Mohov’s estimates broadly agree: he described the core experience as around 30 hours in a July 29, 2026, TechRadar interview. These are developer estimates, not averages compiled from players’ completed runs.

What can make a run longer?
Remedy describes large, distinct Manhattan zones with side activities, hidden encounters, and optional discoveries. Spending more time exploring and pursuing optional content can take a playthrough beyond the main-story estimate, but Remedy has not published a separate duration for each activity tier. The estimates also do not quantify how much play pace or combat difficulty changes total time.

A completionist target is especially hard to pin down: the available estimates do not define a 100% checklist or establish an exact time for clearing every activity. Treat around 50 hours as a broad guide rather than a precise finish line.
Does New Game Plus add more time?
Yes, if you choose to replay. Remedy says New Game Plus carries over many earned upgrades and abilities, while traversal abilities remain tied to story progression. A replay can also give players a chance to pursue missed World Quests, bounties, collectibles, and different outcomes in some side stories and conversations, according to the April 30, 2026, PlayStation Blog post about New Game Plus. Remedy has not provided a separate time estimate for this additional content or a replay.

Do you need to play the first Control first?
No. Mohov told TechRadar that playing the first Control is not required, though it can enrich the experience, particularly the story. He also said CONTROL Resonant includes a recap at the top of the main menu. Starting with Resonant therefore does not require adding the previous game’s playtime to your estimate.
