The Xiaomi 17 Ultra pairs a one-inch 50 MP main camera with LOFIC HDR and Leica-branded optics, alongside a 200 MP telephoto camera with a mechanical optical zoom range of 75–100 mm. Those are manufacturer-published specifications and claims, not independent image-quality test results. For US readers, an important caveat: the sources cited here do not establish US availability or pricing.
What LOFIC HDR does on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra
LOFIC HDR is a feature Xiaomi attributes to the phone’s Light Fusion 1050L main-camera sensor. Xiaomi says the technology is intended to improve highlight control—preserving detail in bright areas of a scene that might otherwise appear washed out. That describes the feature’s purpose; it does not establish how well the camera performs in real-world comparisons.
In its December 25, 2025 announcement, Xiaomi said the Light Fusion 1050L has 6.3 times the full-well capacity of its previous-generation one-inch sensor. This is Xiaomi’s own comparison, not an independently verified measurement of image quality. Xiaomi describes the system’s overall optical design as Leica UltraPure and lists a 1G+6P hybrid lens structure and coatings. The telephoto uses a Leica APO optical lens; Leica’s launch release says that its design is based on the Leica APO standard. These labels describe different aspects of the system: Summilux is named for the main camera, UltraPure for the overall design, and APO for the telephoto lens. How to interpret the telephoto zoom figures
The telephoto’s published mechanical optical range is 75–100 mm. Xiaomi also describes the camera as offering optical-quality reach up to 400 mm equivalent. Keep those figures distinct: the latter is an equivalent-reach claim, not an expansion of the stated 75–100 mm mechanical zoom range. Leica says the telephoto offers flexibility for portraits and distant subjects, but that corporate description is not an independent test of results. Leica Camera AG, February 28, 2026
Video specifications and market qualifications
Xiaomi lists video options including 4K recording at 120 frames per second in Log and Dolby Vision. These are published options, not a guarantee that every camera, mode, or regional version supports each format in the same way. Check the specifications for the exact regional model before relying on a particular camera-and-video combination. Xiaomi global product page

Optional Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kits
Leica’s global release describes two optional camera-grip accessories. Both include a two-stage shutter release and a separate video button. The Pro version adds a PU leather surface and an integrated 2000 mAh battery; the regular Photography Kit connects by Bluetooth. These accessories are not part of the camera hardware built into the phone, and local availability and compatibility should be confirmed before buying. The phone launched in Chinese Mainland in December 2025 and overseas in February 2026. Xiaomi’s investor presentation gives regional starting prices of RMB 6,999 in China and EUR 1,499 in Europe. Those figures are not US prices, and the sources cited here do not confirm US availability, a US retailer listing, or US stock for the Photography Kit Pro. Treat US purchase status and pricing as unconfirmed rather than inferring them from the global launch. What to compare when evaluating the camera
- Highlight handling: distinguish Xiaomi’s LOFIC and full-well-capacity claims from independent image tests.
- Zoom coverage: compare the native 75–100 mm mechanical range separately from advertised equivalent reach.
- Video: verify which camera and regional variant support the formats and frame rates you need.
- Physical controls: consider whether an optional Photography Kit is available and compatible in your market.
- Regional support: confirm local price, model variant, warranty and accessory stock rather than relying on China or Europe launch details.
