Schneider Electric said it was investigating unauthorized access to an internal project execution tracking platform hosted in an isolated environment. Separately, ransomware group Hellcat claimed it stole company data and demanded $125,000 “in baguettes,” according to The Register. Schneider Electric said its products and services remained unaffected.
What Schneider Electric confirmed
On November 5, 2024, The Register reported that Schneider Electric was investigating unauthorized access to one of its internal project execution tracking platforms. The company said the platform was hosted in an isolated environment and that its Global Incident Response team had been mobilized. A Schneider Electric spokesperson said the company’s products and services remained unaffected. The Register’s November 5 report reproduced the company’s statement.
That statement confirms an investigation into unauthorized access. It does not confirm the amount or type of data involved, the attackers’ access method, or the full forensic scope.
What Hellcat claimed
Hellcat claimed it had stolen more than 40 GB of compressed data and demanded $125,000 in baguettes, threatening to disclose the material. The Register also reported the group’s claim that the alleged haul included project, issue, and plugin data, along with more than 400,000 rows of user data. These figures and descriptions are allegations attributed to Hellcat, not findings Schneider Electric confirmed in its statement. The Register’s report attributes the claims to the group.

The Register said Hellcat claimed it gained access through Schneider Electric’s Atlassian Jira system. The available company statement does not establish that as the confirmed initial access method.

In February 2024, Schneider Electric described a separate ransomware incident affecting its Sustainability Business division on January 17. The company said that division used isolated network infrastructure, that no other entity in the group had been affected by that incident, and that its investigation showed data had been obtained by the threat actor. Schneider Electric’s February 19 update concerns that earlier event.

The available reporting does not connect the January Sustainability Business incident to the November project-platform incident. The Register described the November event as Schneider Electric’s third breach in less than two years, referring to the earlier Sustainability Business and 2023 MOVEit-related incidents; that count is the publication’s characterization, not part of the company’s statement.

- The complete forensic scope of the November incident and a verified inventory of any data involved.
- Whether Hellcat’s reported data-volume and row-count claims are accurate.
- A confirmed initial access method.
- A later public update establishing the investigation’s final findings or current status. The contemporaneous reporting describes the investigation in November 2024.
