DIRECTV’s streaming lineup has two distinct choices: smaller, themed Genre Packs and broader Signature Streaming TV Packages. Gemini and Gemini Air are optional viewing hardware—not plan tiers—while the DIRECTV app lets eligible customers watch on compatible devices, subject to channel and stream limits. Which setup fits depends on the channels you watch, your ZIP code, included app offers, and the price after any promotion.
Genre Packs vs. Signature streaming packages
DIRECTV presents both as no-contract streaming offerings that do not require satellite service. Genre Packs are standalone themed lineups; you do not need a Signature plan to subscribe to one. Signature Streaming TV Packages are the broader, traditional-style streaming option, with local channels and regional sports networks in selected packages. Do not confuse these streaming plans with DIRECTV’s separate satellite package lineups.
On October 8, 2026, DIRECTV advertised Genre Packs starting at $20.99 per month and streaming TV packages starting at $89.99 per month. Those are advertised starting prices, not guaranteed quotes. Offers, taxes, eligibility, package contents and renewal rates can vary or change. DIRECTV also described up to 185+ channels across its streaming packages; the exact count and channels depend on package and location. Check the live offer and lineup by ZIP code before enrolling.
Which Genre Pack matches your viewing?
DIRECTV listed five main Genre Packs on October 8, 2026. The channel examples and counts below are from its product pages, and local availability or current offers may differ.
| Pack | What DIRECTV listed | Displayed offer on October 8, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| MyEntertainment | 60+ entertainment channels, including FX, HGTV, A&E and Bravo | $42.99 per month |
| MySports | 20+ sports channels, including ESPN, FS1, TNT and NFL Network | $49.99 for the first month, against a stated $64.99 rate |
| MiEspañol | 60+ Spanish-language channels, including Univision, Telemundo, TUDN and ESPN Deportes | $24.99 per month for the first two months, against a stated $37.99 rate |
| MyKids | 10+ channels | $20.99 per month |
| MyNews | 10+ news channels | $39.99 for the first two months, against a stated $44.99 rate |
These are date-stamped advertised prices, not a promise of the amount you will pay. DIRECTV’s pages describe trials or introductory offers, auto-renewal at then-prevailing prices, and restrictions by plan or market. Confirm the checkout total, promotion length, renewal price and any applicable taxes before signing up. The live DIRECTV plan page is the place to verify current offers.
Duo options and Mini-Packs
DIRECTV also showed Duo combinations, including MyEntertainment + MyNews and MySports + MyNews. Its Mini-Packs include MySports Extra, MyCinema and MyHome Team; MySports Extra is associated with MySports. MyHome Team availability depends on the local regional sports networks in your market, so check your ZIP code rather than assuming a particular team or network is included. See DIRECTV’s Genre Packs details for current combinations and local lineups.

When a Signature Streaming TV Package makes more sense
Consider a Signature package if a single themed pack would leave out too many channels you regularly watch, or if you need a broader lineup that may include local channels and regional sports networks. DIRECTV described four English-language Signature streaming plans and one Spanish Signature plan, but channel counts and specific inclusions vary by package and location. Use the comparison for your ZIP code to confirm the local stations and sports channels you actually receive.
A Genre Pack is the more targeted choice when its channels and any included app offers cover what you watch. The lower advertised starting price alone does not establish which option is cheaper for your household: compare the precise lineup, add-ons, promotion period and ongoing monthly rate.

Gemini and Gemini Air: what the hardware does
Gemini is a device, not a subscription tier. DIRECTV says both Gemini and Gemini Air provide access to live TV, apps and on-demand content, but their setup differs. Gemini is associated with DIRECTV’s satellite setup. Gemini Air is designed for DIRECTV via internet, plugs into a TV and does not need a satellite dish. DIRECTV also says Gemini can work with internet customers, so confirm that the specific device and setup are eligible for your service before ordering.
Gemini can bring supported apps together in one interface, but that does not make every streaming service free. A third-party subscription may still require separate payment. DIRECTV’s product page showed its streaming device for lease at $10 per month when checked October 8, 2026; verify the current offer, equipment terms and eligibility with DIRECTV before treating that as your cost. See the Gemini device information for setup details.

What the DIRECTV app adds—and what it does not
The DIRECTV app is the service’s viewing app for compatible devices; it is separate from both your TV package and Gemini hardware. DIRECTV says app access is included at no extra cost for U.S. customers, but requires a compatible device and data connection. Availability excludes Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Not all channels are available to stream, and DIRECTV allows up to three concurrent streams in the app. Check DIRECTV’s app information for supported devices and current terms.
Included app offers depend on the plan
DIRECTV’s app-benefits page listed the following plan-specific inclusions when checked October 8, 2026. The names, ad tiers and eligibility rules are dynamic offer details, so verify them before subscribing.

Quick Recap
How to compare before you subscribe
- List the channels you need. Match them against a Genre Pack or the broader Signature lineups; do not rely on a headline channel count.
- Enter your ZIP code. Confirm local channels and any regional sports network, especially if considering MyHome Team.
- Check app inclusions and ad tiers. Verify eligibility and whether a third-party subscription remains separately billed.
- Decide whether hardware is necessary. A streaming subscription and the DIRECTV app do not by themselves require Gemini; if you want the device, confirm satellite-versus-internet setup, service eligibility and lease terms.
- Calculate the ongoing cost. Compare the amount due during any trial or introductory period with the auto-renewal rate, plus any device lease, taxes or add-ons shown at checkout.
