The best digital whiteboard for a business is the one that fits its meeting platform, room and collaboration habits—not simply the one with the biggest screen. The five products in Computerworld’s 2018 review are historical models, not a current shortlist. For a present-day comparison, this guide covers three documented interactive display options—Samsung Flip WMFX, Microsoft Surface Hub 3 and Cisco Board Pro G2—plus Logitech Scribe, a camera for sharing a conventional whiteboard. Those are four different hardware examples, not five equivalent current display recommendations.
First, know what “five” refers to
Computerworld’s 2018 article reviewed the Cisco Webex Board (then called Spark Board), Google Jamboard, InFocus Mondopad 6522, Microsoft Surface Hub and Samsung Flip. Its findings—including product comparisons, conferencing observations and prices—apply to the generations it tested, not to current versions. The review reported that its tested products supported local and remote access, document sharing and on-screen drawing; it also found that its Flip required an external computer for direct audio/video conferencing. The current manufacturer information covered here establishes three interactive displays and one adjacent accessory. Choose by room and collaboration stack
If Teams Rooms is the anchor
Surface Hub 3 is documented for Teams Rooms on Windows and Whiteboard, with one-touch joining for Teams, Zoom and Webex. Cisco Board Pro G2 also offers a Microsoft Teams Rooms experience, alongside Cisco Rooms. Decide whether your organization wants a Microsoft-centered room or the choice between those two documented room experiences; verify that the features your team needs are included in the exact configuration.
If the board must also run the meeting
Compare integrated room hardware separately from the interactive canvas. Cisco documents built-in cameras and audio on Board Pro G2, and Microsoft lists a Smart Camera on Surface Hub 3. Samsung’s cited product page documents whiteboarding and sharing features, but the evidence here does not establish built-in conferencing hardware for this model. Confirm the full bill of materials and required peripherals before treating a display as a complete video-meeting room.

If you want to preserve a dry-erase board
Scribe may suit a room that already has a conventional board and wants remote participants to see it. It is an accessory camera, not a touch display: people in the room continue writing on the physical surface rather than using an on-screen canvas. Confirm the host meeting platform and installation layout against Logitech’s Scribe specifications.
Check the practical details before specifying a device
- Platform: Confirm the exact meeting-room mode, whiteboard software, account requirements and interoperability your organization will use. Do not assume that a device supports every feature in every mode.
- Room fit: Match screen size to seating distance, sight lines and available wall or floor space. Cisco documents 55- and 75-inch Board Pro G2 sizes; Microsoft lists 50- and 85-inch Surface Hub 3 configurations. Samsung’s cited Flip WMFX is a 55-inch UK model.
- Interaction: Test the workflows that matter: touch and pen use, simultaneous sharing, annotation, saving work and how remote participants see or contribute to the board. Samsung’s listed pressure-level and response figures are vendor specifications; they do not by themselves establish that it will feel better for a particular team.
- Installation and total cost: Ask for a quote that includes the display or camera, stand or mount, cabling, conferencing peripherals, licenses and deployment. Current street prices, installation costs, inventory and program terms are not established by the cited product pages.
- Management and security: Have IT check device management, network access, account controls, software support and security requirements against the organization’s policies. Samsung lists Knox security; confirm the applicable capabilities and configuration with the vendor.
What the historical price range can—and cannot—tell you
Computerworld reported that the devices in its 2018 review ranged from $2,700 to nearly $10,000, plus the cost of a stand. That is a historical report about the reviewed products, not a current price range or a reliable basis for budgeting a modern installation. Computerworld’s review is useful as a record of those product generations; obtain current, region-specific quotes for any purchasing decision.
