The OnePlus 15 pairs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform with a manufacturer-rated 7,300 mAh typical-equivalent battery and a redesigned, flatter body. Those are published specifications, not proof of longer battery life or faster real-world performance. The hands-on that inspired this topic was published in November 2025, before the announced November 13 global launch; that date is now historical, not an upcoming release.

What the OnePlus 15 changes

In Nicholas Sutrich’s November 10, 2025 Android Central hands-on, the most visible change was a move away from the curved look of the OnePlus 13 toward flatter front and back surfaces, flatter metal sides, and a redesigned camera island. OnePlus’s current specifications identify the phone’s platform and battery, while the hands-on provides launch-era observations of its physical design and controls.

OnePlus Europe CMO Celina Shi told TechRadar that the company wanted the phone to look different, citing an “ID revamp” and symmetrical camera module. That is the company’s explanation for the redesign, not an independent assessment of its merits.

Design and finishes

Flatter surfaces and a new camera island

Sutrich described flat front and rear glass, flatter metal sides, and a raised rounded-square camera island near the upper-left corner. That differs from the OnePlus 13’s curved-surface design and visually distinct camera-module arrangement. These are design observations, not evidence that the newer phone is more durable or comfortable.

Three reported finishes

TechRadar reported the three finishes as Sand Storm, Infinite Black, and Ultra Violet. The same interview attributed these material descriptions to OnePlus: Infinite Black uses frosted glass; Sand Storm has a fiberglass-composite back and micro-arc-oxidized frame; Ultra Violet uses a dual-layer optical coating.

OnePlus also claimed that the Sand Storm coating was 1.3 times harder than a titanium mid-frame. TechRadar reported the claim, but the interview did not establish an independent abrasion test, so it should not be read as a verified durability comparison.

Sutrich’s subjective impression of Sand Storm was that its back felt frosted and paper-like, while the metal surface seemed ceramic-like and resisted fingerprints. Those tactile impressions belong to the author of the hands-on, not to a standardized finish test.

Display: distinguish launch-era guidance from current specifications

The November 2025 hands-on described a 6.78-inch flat OLED with 1272 × 2772 resolution and a 1–165 Hz LTPO range, based on Chinese-model guidance available at the time. Its author cautioned that full global specifications had not yet been officially released. Treat those figures as launch-era reporting, not a guarantee that every regional model or display mode behaves identically. OnePlus’s current specifications are available on its global specifications page; check the version sold in your market for its precise display details.

Platform, battery and cameras

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

OnePlus lists the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 as the OnePlus 15’s mobile platform. That identifies the hardware; it does not establish a measured performance advantage over the OnePlus 13. The manufacturer’s global specs and U.S. launch page provide the relevant official product information. Memory and storage configurations should be checked against the specific regional listing rather than assumed to be identical worldwide.

7,300 mAh typical-equivalent battery capacity

OnePlus specifies a dual-cell battery with a typical equivalent capacity of 7,300 mAh, made up of two 3,650 mAh cells. This is the manufacturer’s published capacity figure, not an independently measured battery-life result. Capacity alone cannot tell you how long a phone will last in your use.

Triple 50 MP rear cameras

OnePlus describes a triple 50 MP rear-camera system. Megapixel counts and camera configuration do not establish image quality; the cited product materials do not provide an independent camera test.

OnePlus 15 vs. OnePlus 13: the meaningful comparison points

Area OnePlus 13 OnePlus 15
Body and camera design The launch-era comparison describes curved surfaces and a different camera-module arrangement. The hands-on describes flat front and back surfaces, flatter sides, and a raised rounded-square camera island near the upper-left.
Display Not stated in the cited OnePlus 15 materials. Launch-era Chinese-model guidance reported a 6.78-inch flat OLED, 1272 × 2772 resolution, and 1–165 Hz LTPO range; check current regional specifications.
Platform Not stated in the cited OnePlus 15 materials. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, according to OnePlus.
Battery Not stated in the cited OnePlus 15 materials. 7,300 mAh typical equivalent capacity across two 3,650 mAh cells, according to OnePlus; not a runtime test.
Controls Alert Slider. Plus Key, which the launch-era hands-on said could be configured for functions including ring, vibrate, and silent modes.

This is a comparison of reported design and specifications, not a controlled, side-by-side test. The available material does not establish that the OnePlus 15 is faster, lasts longer, or takes better photos than the OnePlus 13.

Plus Key, Mind Space and the Alert Slider

The hands-on reported that the Plus Key replaces the Alert Slider and has multiple configurable functions. In the software described at launch, it could be assigned to actions including ring, vibrate, and silent modes; its default action saved material to Mind Space. This is a launch-era account of the device and software, so available assignments may vary with region or later updates.

What came in the box, and charging differences

Sutrich’s launch-era report said the retail box included a charger and a preinstalled film-type screen protector. The article reported wired charging capped at 80 W in the U.S., while other regions received 120 W using the same brick. These are region-specific claims from that November 2025 article, not a guarantee about current packaging or every market. Check the box contents and charging specification for the exact regional model before purchase.

Launch date and availability context

The Android Central hands-on said OnePlus had announced a global launch for November 13, 2025. TechRadar’s October 29, 2025 interview with Celina Shi also gave that date. The hands-on noted that U.S. availability might be delayed by FCC approval timing during the government shutdown then underway; that was a launch-period concern, not a current availability update.

At publication, Android Central said global pricing had not yet been officially disclosed. That statement describes the information available in November 2025 and should not be mistaken for current pricing. Availability and price depend on market; consult OnePlus or a local retailer for current listings.
