A January 21, 2025 report from Tom’s Guide described leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra marketing slides, one day before Samsung’s Unpacked event. The slides reportedly previewed five areas: AI and video tools, image processing, headline hardware, Smart Switch and RCS, and Samsung Wallet. Samsung announced the phone on January 22; its official specifications confirm several headline details, while the leak itself was not an independent test of the device.

What did the Galaxy S25 Ultra leak reveal?

Tom’s Guide reported that Evan Blass had posted promotional slides about the Galaxy S25 Ultra ahead of Samsung’s January 22, 2025 Unpacked event. The slides were secondary reporting about marketing materials, not hands-on evidence. Samsung’s announcement the following day is the source for the phone’s final specifications and launch claims. 1. AI features and video tools were a major part of the pitch

The leaked slides reportedly showed an Insights feature with information such as weather and commute details, Night Video, and Audio Eraser for reducing background sound. These were descriptions of promotional materials, not independently verified demonstrations.

Samsung later announced Galaxy AI features and a broader One UI 7 feature set for the S25 series, including Now Brief and Audio Eraser. The announcement establishes what Samsung said the phone offered; it does not turn the earlier leak into proof of real-world performance. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series announcement

2. The leak highlighted image processing and the display

The materials reportedly emphasized more natural-looking skin tones and textures, along with ProScaler on the large display. Tom’s Guide predicted that selfies could be “the most realistic we have seen yet,” but that was an editorial prediction, not a measured comparison.

Samsung later said the S25 Ultra had ProScaler image scaling and reported a 40% improvement in image-scaling quality. That percentage is Samsung’s comparison with the previous generation, not an independent test result. The company also announced a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Samsung’s announcement and feature claims

3. The headline hardware mostly matched the final specifications

The reported hardware slide listed a 6.9-inch display, 200MP camera, 5,000mAh battery and built-in S Pen. Samsung’s official specification sheet confirmed those headline figures. It also specifies the other camera sensors, software platform and physical dimensions:

Specification Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra listing
Display 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, up to 120Hz. Samsung measures 6.9 inches across the full rectangle and 6.8 inches accounting for rounded corners.
Rear cameras 200MP wide, 50MP ultra-wide, 50MP 5x telephoto and 10MP 3x telephoto.
Front camera 12MP.
Battery 5,000mAh typical capacity.
Processor and software at launch Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy; Android 15 with One UI 7.
Dimensions and weight 77.6 × 162.8 × 8.2 mm; 218 g.

The camera upgrade most clearly visible in the final specifications is the ultra-wide sensor: Samsung lists 50MP, compared with 12MP on the previous generation. Samsung also reported that Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy improved NPU performance by 40%, CPU performance by 37% and GPU performance by 30% versus the previous generation. These are manufacturer-reported comparisons, not independent benchmarks. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra specifications · Samsung’s launch announcement

The leak story characterized the hardware changes as minimal, but that was the article’s judgment rather than a settled fact. The new ultra-wide sensor and updated chipset are material changes that Samsung highlighted.

4. Smart Switch and RCS appeared in the leaked materials

The report said the slides referenced Smart Switch and RCS messaging. Smart Switch is relevant to moving information to a Galaxy phone; RCS may enable richer messaging across platforms, including with some iPhone users. However, RCS behavior depends on compatible software, carrier support and region. The leak report alone does not establish how well any particular cross-platform messaging setup would work.

5. Samsung Wallet was shown, but ID support was uncertain

The slides reportedly showed Wallet features for payment cards, memberships, gift cards and digital IDs. The report explicitly left passport or driver’s-license support uncertain. It therefore does not establish that the S25 Ultra, or Samsung Wallet in every market, supported those specific documents. Tom’s Guide’s report on the leaked slides

What the leak got right—and what it could not prove

The leak previewed several areas that appeared in Samsung’s eventual launch presentation, and its headline display, main-camera, battery and S Pen details aligned with the official listing. Samsung’s announcement supplies the definitive launch specifications, including the 50MP ultra-wide camera and Snapdragon platform.

Neither the leak story nor Samsung’s marketing claims establish independent performance results.
