To install Android 14 on an eligible Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings > Software update, check for the update, then follow the on-screen prompts. Samsung delivers Android 14 as One UI 6, but availability depends on the exact model, country, carrier and current software. If the update is not offered, Smart Switch is another supported way to install an update Samsung has made available for your device; it does not bypass eligibility.
Before you start
- Use a Wi-Fi connection where possible. Samsung recommends Wi-Fi for software updates.
- Charge the device before updating. Samsung India specifies at least 20% battery for its instructions; that is region-specific guidance, not a universal threshold for every model.
- Check the update carefully before installing. Samsung India says that under its enhanced security policies, firmware cannot be downgraded to an earlier version after updating to the latest software.
Android 14 is delivered to eligible Galaxy devices as One UI 6. The update screen offers the software currently available for that particular device; it may not offer Android 14 specifically if a later version is available or the model is not eligible.
Install the update on your Galaxy device
- Connect to Wi-Fi if possible and make sure the battery is sufficiently charged.
- Open Settings > Software update. Depending on your device or software version, the menu may be labeled System updates.
- Tap Check for updates or Download and install. Samsung’s Android 14 rollout instructions use “Download and install”; labels can vary.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen instructions. Let the device restart and finish installation. It may restart more than once.
- Do not use the device while the update is installing.
Install an available update with Smart Switch
Samsung also supports updating through Smart Switch on a Windows PC or Mac. You need Smart Switch and the USB cable supplied with the Galaxy device.
- Install and open Smart Switch on the Windows PC or Mac.
- Connect the Galaxy device with its USB cable. If prompted on the device, allow file transfer.
- Follow any software update instructions shown in Smart Switch.
- Keep the cable connected and do not use the device until the update is complete.
Smart Switch is an alternative installation route, not a way to force Android 14 onto a device for which Samsung has not offered it.

Why Android 14 may not appear
Samsung releases updates in stages. Timing can vary by model, location and mobile carrier, and older devices may lack the hardware support for a newer Android version. Samsung also says an update can be temporarily paused for emergency adjustments.
- Confirm the exact phone or tablet model in its device settings or documentation; eligibility cannot be determined reliably from a family name alone.
- Check again later if Samsung has not yet made the update available in your region or through your carrier.
- Consult Samsung support for your country or Samsung Members for device-specific information.
- Do not install generic firmware files in an attempt to force an update. Samsung’s documented update methods are the device’s update screen and Smart Switch, and neither bypasses model eligibility.
How to interpret Android 14 compatibility lists
Samsung’s Latin America One UI 6 / Android 14 support page, last updated September 26, 2024, records a regional rollout schedule spanning Galaxy S, Z, A, M and Tab models, with release periods from November 2023 through September 2024. It distinguishes general releases from carrier-dependent releases and notes that features can vary by model and country or carrier. Samsung also warns that eligible models and program details may change and that updates can be paused for emergency adjustments. Treat that page as historical regional information, not a current universal compatibility guarantee. Samsung UK’s guidance, updated July 2, 2026, likewise says releases occur at different stages by location and carrier and that older devices may not support the latest Android version.
