SpectorSoft announced eBlaster Mobile on September 13, 2010, as a subscription service for remotely monitoring a BlackBerry device owned by the purchaser but used by someone else. The launch release described logging calls, email, and text activity and sending reports to an email address. Its price and compatibility claims belong to 2010—not to a current buying recommendation.

What SpectorSoft announced

SpectorSoft announced eBlaster Mobile on September 13, 2010; Dark Reading published the release on September 14. The company said its first version worked with RIM BlackBerry devices and could be installed and configured within minutes. That setup description was a vendor claim, not an independently verified test. Dark Reading’s release page

The service was pitched for a BlackBerry the purchaser owned but did not personally use—for example, a phone provided to a child or assigned to an employee. SpectorSoft promoted parental monitoring and corporate oversight as use cases.

What eBlaster Mobile was claimed to monitor

According to SpectorSoft’s announcement, eBlaster Mobile recorded call logs, mobile email, and text activity. The company said it could send emailed Activity Reports containing transcripts of sent and received messages, and that users could remotely change recording and reporting settings through a web interface.

The release said reports could be scheduled as often as every 30 minutes or as infrequently as once a day, with immediate notifications available for message transcripts. These are descriptions in the launch announcement, not independently established performance or feature tests. SpectorSoft CEO Jason Judge described the product as a way for businesses to monitor and prevent data theft, text abuse, and policy violations; the release also promoted it to parents seeking visibility into children’s communications. Why those compatibility details are not current

BlackBerry’s lifecycle information marks older BlackBerry OS versions as end of life. Its support FAQ says legacy services for BlackBerry 7.1 and earlier ended on January 4, 2022; devices relying on those services may no longer function reliably for data, calls, and SMS. The versions named in eBlaster Mobile’s release therefore describe a legacy platform, not a supported modern environment. BlackBerry end-of-life information · BlackBerry support FAQ

What is known about the product’s later status

Veriato’s FAQ identifies SpectorSoft as the company’s former name and describes a shift toward corporate solutions. It lists products including Veriato 360, Veriato Recon, and Veriato Investigator, but does not mention eBlaster Mobile. These sources do not establish the exact date eBlaster Mobile stopped being sold or the route, if any, for licensing or support today. Veriato FAQ

How to interpret the announcement’s market figures

The release cited August 2010 Nielsen figures saying multipurpose smartphones represented 25 percent of the U.S. mobile market and RIM BlackBerry OS devices represented 35 percent of that smartphone segment. These are figures attributed to Nielsen by SpectorSoft’s announcement; they should not be read as current market data. Source: SpectorSoft’s launch release
